Jessica Simpson Reveals Ashton Kutcher’s One-Word Response to Her Virginity at Age Twenty-Two [WATCH]

Jessica Simpson is reflecting on a moment from early in her career when actor Ashton Kutcher learned she was a virgin at age 22, as reported by Page Six.

In a new interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Simpson said she will “never forget” Kutcher’s reaction when she shared the news while filming her guest appearance on “That ’70s Show” in 2002.

Simpson, now 45, appeared on the sitcom as Annette, the love interest of Kutcher’s character, Michael Kelso. She recalled that when she told Kutcher she was a virgin at the time, his immediate response was a single word: “Why?”

Simpson replied, “Because I haven’t met my husband yet.” She described herself during that period as “very innocent,” adding, “I [wasn’t] thinking about other people and their sex lives at all. I’ve always been open. Legs crossed, but open.”

The episode that the two filmed together featured a similar exchange between their characters. In the scripted moment, Simpson’s character tells Kelso they cannot be intimate because she is a virgin.

Kutcher’s character reacts with an abrupt “What?” before adding, “A coincidence. Me too.” Simpson laughed as she recently rewatched both the scene and an old interview she gave about the role.

“I was just shooting a scene with Ashton — Michael — and I was telling him that we couldn’t do it because I was a virgin,” she said in the throwback clip. Kutcher’s representative has not responded to Page Six’s request for comment.

Simpson was open about her decision to abstain from sex before her marriage to Nick Lachey in October 2002. She told People magazine two years before their Texas wedding, “My virginity is something I stand strong in.”

In that 2000 interview, she also said, “It’s not always easy. But I do respect it. Virginity can be cool and sexy.”

Simpson and Lachey divorced in 2005. She later married former NFL player Eric Johnson. The couple, who share three children—13-year-old Maxwell, 12-year-old Ace, and 6-year-old Birdie—finalized their divorce earlier this year and now co-parent.

Simpson’s latest interview revisited a moment from her early acting days and brought renewed attention to her time on the long-running sitcom.

Her comments also highlighted how closely her real-life values at the time aligned with the storyline written for her character.
