Two male passengers were forcibly removed from a Jet2 flight at Leeds Bradford Airport after reportedly becoming “uncontrollable” following the consumption of a bottle of duty-free vodka during a delay on the runway, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The incident occurred on Thursday aboard a flight scheduled to travel to Chania International Airport in Greece.

Video footage from inside the plane captured the moment a police officer entered the aircraft to confront the pair. A visibly distressed flight attendant was seen near the exit as the situation escalated.

Airport staff and law enforcement officers were required to remove the two men from the aircraft individually.

According to passenger Ian Boyle, the disruption began after the men opened and consumed a bottle of vodka during the delay. “The airline staff were doing their best but the drunk guy just overwhelmed them,” Boyle said.

“The police had to intervene because the man was so drunk he was uncontrollable. Apparently, the two friends brought a duty-free bottle of vodka on board and thought it was okay to drink it while we were delayed.”

Boyle described the incident as a “serious altercation” and said children aboard the flight were visibly shaken. “There were kids on board who may never want to fly again,” he added.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on July 24.

“Police received a request for assistance following a report of a disturbance at Leeds Bradford Airport. Officers attended and arrested two males on suspicion of affray. Both were later bailed pending further enquiries,” the department stated.

Jet2 responded by confirming that the individuals involved have been permanently banned from flying with the airline. A company spokesperson said:

“We can confirm that two disruptive passengers have been banned from flying with us, following their appalling behaviour which led to police having to offload them. As a family-friendly airline, we take a zero-tolerance approach to disruptive passenger behaviour.”

The airline did not disclose whether the pair would face additional legal or financial consequences.

This incident follows another alcohol-related disruption in July aboard a Southwest Airlines flight departing from LaGuardia Airport in New York.

In that case, a female passenger caused delays and was removed after verbally and physically assaulting another woman over her appearance.

In both cases, the passengers involved were prevented from re-boarding their respective flights.
