Jimmy Carter Slammed by CNN’s Jennings: ‘Borderline Treasonous Behavior’ [WATCH]

Scott Jennings, a conservative political commentator, sharply criticized former President Jimmy Carter’s legacy, labeling him as both a poor leader during his presidency and a problematic ex-president.

In his remarks, Jennings discussed Carter’s tenure in office and his actions post-presidency, accusing him of meddling in U.S. foreign policy and undermining American interests.

“He was a terrible President,” Jennings said bluntly. “That’s why he lost in a landslide after his one term.”

Jennings went on to argue that Carter’s actions after leaving the White House were even more damaging, especially in terms of his involvement in foreign policy.

“If it’s possible, I think he was even a worse ex-president because of his meddling in US foreign policy, because of his saddling up to dictators around the world, because of his vehement views, anti-Israel views, and more than dabbling in anti-Semitism over the years.”

Jennings noted that Carter’s approach to foreign relations often alienated even members of his own party. “He often vexed Democrats,” Jennings said, pointing out that even former President Barack Obama did not invite Carter to speak at the Democratic National Convention in 2008. “Obama didn’t even have him speak at his ’08 Convention.”

One of the key examples Jennings cited was Carter’s handling of the North Korea nuclear issue, which he believes placed Bill Clinton in a difficult position. “He put Bill Clinton in a terrible foreign policy box on a North Korea nuclear issue,” Jennings noted.

He argued that Carter’s actions were driven by his own ego and belief in his ability to influence global politics despite being rejected by the American people. “I think he was a guy who had a huge ego and believed that he was uniquely positioned to do all these things, even after the American people had roundly and soundly rejected his leadership.”

Jennings also pointed to Carter’s controversial actions during the lead-up to the Persian Gulf War, which he believes demonstrated Carter’s disregard for American interests in favor of his own legacy. “In the run-up to the Persian Gulf War, he wrote letters to all of our allies and to Arab states, asking them to abandon their cooperation and coalition with the United States of America,” Jennings recalled.

He argued that this was not only a reckless action but potentially treasonous. “If it’s not treasonous, it’s borderline treasonous,” he said.

Jennings emphasized that ex-presidents, having held the office, have a duty to support the interests of the United States above all else. “I hear what you’re saying about the humanitarianism, but when you’re an ex-president and you have served in that office, I think you have a duty to the United States and only to the United States,” he explained.

According to Jennings, Carter’s actions showed that he cared more about protecting his own legacy than about serving the nation’s best interests. “When he did that in other instances, to me, it showed that he cared more about his own legacy than he did about the country, and I think that is wrong.”
