President Joe Biden awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a group of 19 recipients including George Soros and Hillary Clinton on Saturday.
With little more than two weeks remaining in his presidency, Biden bestowed the medals — the highest honor a civilian can receive — on a group he called “extraordinary” in his opening remarks.

Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who received a standing ovation from her fellow recipients and the others in attendance, accepted her medal following the reading of a litany of career accomplishments.
“As a lawyer she defended the rights of children,” a military officer read as Biden placed her medal around her neck.
“As first lady she fought for universal healthcare and declared women’s rights are human rights. As senator, she helped New York rebuild after Sept. 11, 2001. As secretary of state she championed democracy worldwide and her nomination for president broke barriers and inspired generations,” the officer said.
President Barack Obama adopted many of Clinton’s healthcare reform proposals to craft his Affordable Healthcare Act (“ObamaCare”). Despite broad support at the time, many experts view his healthcare reform — arguably the keystone legislation of his presidency — negatively as healthcare costs remain a key driver of American bankruptcy filings.
As secretary of state, Clinton presided over the U.S. State Department during the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya which killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. Clinton had hours’ advanced warning of the planned attack, which was planned up to 10 days prior to the assault, according to documents obtained by Judicial Watch.
Accepting on behalf of his father, Democratic mega donor George Soros, Alex Soros shook Biden’s hand and took his father’s medal while the military officer lauded Soros’s attempts to “build a life of freedom for himself and countless others around the world.” (RELATED: Heir Of George Soros’ Empire Engaged To Former Hillary Clinton Aide, Ex To Anthony Weiner)
Soros’s Open Society Foundation and many other groups he’s funded, have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into efforts to elect soft-on-crime district attorneys and judges.
Political action committees linked to the Hungarian billionaire spend lavishly to fund left-wing candidates in virtually every state in the U.S.
His groups have also funded efforts to flood the United States with Central and South American migrants who enter illegally through the southern border.
Former Republican Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who departed his Utah Senate seat Friday as the 119th Congress was gaveled in for the first time, accepted a medal on behalf of his father, former Republican Michigan Gov. George W. Romney.
Biden also honored three recipients with the awards posthumously, including President George W. Bush’s secretary of defense, Ash Carter; black activist Fannie Lou Hamer and the late Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who Biden called “one of my true political heroes,” adding, “I love and miss him dearly.”
The group of recipients also included former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Earvin “Magic” Johnson, philanthropist and musician Bono, actors Denzel Washington and Michael J. Fox and many others.
