Joe Biden spoke to reporters Sunday evening after signing the Social Security Fairness Act into law, addressing topics ranging from immigration and white supremacy to his thoughts on former President Donald Trump.
During the exchange, Biden’s responses raised eyebrows as he veered off-topic and expressed frustration with the press.
When asked by a reporter whether he still considered white supremacy the greatest threat to the United States, Biden replied, “One of the many threats — look, any kind of [inaudible] of supremacy is a threat to [the] United States.”

He described the U.S. as “the most extensive, multicultural nation in the world,” crediting its diversity for the country’s strength.
Biden then referenced historical waves of immigration, from his Irish ancestors in the 1840s to Italian immigrants at the turn of the century. “It’s who we are, and we are so connected to the rest of the world. Everywhere I go, [the] rest of the world gets it,” he said.
Pivoting to border security, Biden claimed that his administration had reduced migrant numbers and implemented measures to address the crisis. “When I became president, the numbers came way down,” he said, adding that he pushed for bipartisan agreements to bolster border security and employ additional agents.
Biden criticized his predecessor, stating, “[Trump’s] on the phone saying, ‘Don’t do it. Don’t do it, [it will] make me look bad.’”
He described efforts to oppose certain immigration policies as “ridiculous.”
The president also touched on birthright citizenship, appearing to criticize attempts to change the constitutional provision. “The idea we’re going to change the constitutional birthright… If you’re born in the country, you can’t be — you’re not a citizen. It’s not a joke,” Biden said.
During his remarks, Biden expressed irritation with the press. “My being the oldest president, I know more world leaders than any one of you ever met in your whole goddamn life,” he said, appearing to boast about his experience.
White House staff eventually intervened, ushering reporters out of the room.
Earlier in the exchange, Biden was asked if he still considered former President Trump a threat to democracy. “I think what he did was a genuine threat to democracy,” Biden responded, seemingly referencing the events of January 6, 2021.
