Former President Joe Biden is reportedly facing difficulties securing paid speaking engagements, despite seeking as much as $300,000 per appearance.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the former president has been attempting to book events through Creative Artists Agency (CAA) since February, but demand has been underwhelming.
An industry insider told reporters, “CAA is having trouble booking gigs, which isn’t surprising.”

Biden’s asking price comes in at roughly 25 percent lower than that of former President Barack Obama, who reportedly charged $400,000 per speech following his time in office.

Despite the reduced rate, Biden appears to be struggling to attract clients.
CAA, a major Hollywood-based talent agency, has represented Biden in efforts to coordinate public speaking opportunities since he left office in January 2025.
However, sources close to Biden’s post-presidential office have suggested that CAA may not be the right fit for that task.
“Signing with CAA was a bad decision,” one source said.
“CAA is a Hollywood shop. They’re not set up to market speakers to, like, the national duty-free shopping conference. The bread and butter of paid speaking gigs is random large annual industry conferences.”
Another source added that those close to Biden had considered asking for even higher rates, despite persistent concerns about the former president’s public speaking performance.
Throughout his presidency and in subsequent appearances, Biden has been known for occasional verbal missteps and unscripted remarks that often attract attention.
During his first official post-White House address earlier this week, Biden made headlines again with an off-script remark referencing “colored kids” and appeared to speak over background music for portions of the speech.

The remarks added to concerns among potential event organizers about his reliability and ability to deliver clear messaging.
Biden’s difficulties in the speaking circuit come as other former presidents, including Obama and Bill Clinton, have seen considerable success securing lucrative engagements with corporations, universities, and industry associations.
Biden has not publicly addressed the reports about his post-presidency speaking schedule or the challenges in securing bookings.
His office has also not commented on the decision to sign with CAA or whether the arrangement may change.
While former presidents often use public appearances and speeches as a way to remain visible and influence public discourse, demand for such appearances is typically driven by a combination of political appeal, oratorical strength, and perceived leadership success.
Joe Biden’s attempt to now charge $300,000 per speaking appearance isn’t going well.
Most people wouldn’t want to hear him speak for free.

Industry professionals say the current landscape favors speakers who are viewed as either inspiring, compelling, or uniquely insightful—criteria that are evaluated differently depending on the audience.
Biden, who served as the 46th president of the United States, left office in January following the 2024 election. Since then, he has largely remained out of the public eye aside from a handful of public events and statements.
It remains to be seen whether demand for Biden’s speaking appearances will increase in the coming months or if adjustments will be made to his approach, pricing, or representation to improve booking prospects.
