Jon Stewart didn’t hold back in slamming President Biden for his “hypocrisy” after the president granted a sweeping pardon to his son, Hunter Biden.

The move comes after Biden had repeatedly assured the American people that he would not interfere with the justice system on his son’s behalf—a pledge Democrats once held as a moral cornerstone, as reported by The New York Post.

During Monday’s episode of The Daily Show, Stewart opened by taking aim at Biden’s decision to issue what he called an unprecedented “full and unconditional pardon” for Hunter, who had been convicted of gun charges and tax felonies.

“Hypocrisy isn’t illegal,” Stewart said, “nor is it particularly unusual in politics.

Stewart pointed out that Biden’s broken promise didn’t just reflect poorly on the president—it undermined the Democratic Party as a whole.

“The problem is the rest of the Democrats made Biden’s pledge to not pardon Hunter the foundation of their defense of America, this great experiment,”  Stewart noted, hinting at the hypocrisy in how Democrats framed their moral high ground.

To drive the point home, the show aired a montage of Democratic leaders showering praise on Biden’s original promise. Stewart labeled this commitment as the party’s “Mason-Dixon Line of morality,” a clear boundary they claimed separated them from Republicans.

However, Biden’s abrupt reversal now forces Democrats to scramble for excuses, and Stewart was quick to mock their floundering efforts.

“And now, look at the dance Democrats have to do,” Stewart quipped before airing clips of party leaders struggling to justify Biden’s actions.

President Biden, 82, had publicly vowed not to pardon his 54-year-old son, emphasizing his faith in the justice system over family loyalty.

At the time, the president’s pledge was held up as a shining example of integrity. Now, that narrative has crumbled. With Hunter receiving a “full and unconditional pardon” that even shields him from future charges, the president’s credibility is taking a major hit.

Stewart’s scathing critique exposes the political tightrope Democrats must now walk as they defend Biden’s about-face.

For a party that sold itself as the moral compass of American politics, the president’s betrayal cuts deep. Meanwhile, the optics of Hunter’s pardon further reinforce conservative critiques of a double standard in how justice is applied.

As Stewart concluded, “Hypocrisy might not be a crime, but it sure isn’t a virtue.”
