Frello said Ada had not approached Roan or asked her for anything, but instead briefly walked past the singer’s table to confirm her identity as a fan.

Roan later responded in an Instagram video, stating that the individual involved was not part of her personal security team and that she had not been approached by Ada or Harding during the encounter.

Harding addressed the situation publicly on Sunday, sharing her account of the incident and responding to questions about Frello’s version of events.

She said she believed the security guard was not affiliated with the hotel, but rather someone who “looks after artists.”

“Did she send him to do it? Again, I don’t know,” Harding said.

“Look, I would like to hope not, but at the same time, I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure, I guess, that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf.”

“So would he do that if he didn’t have that authority to do so? I don’t know,” she continued. “If he does then obviously that’s a big problem because then he’s representing her in a way she doesn’t want to be represented.”

Harding said Ada did not have a phone, did not take photos, and did not attempt to approach Roan during the encounter. She described her daughter as simply trying to determine whether the singer was present.

“She literally did not do anything, she just looked at her…she came back and said ‘Mum I don’t know if it’s her.’ Because obviously she looked like…her costumes and everything…she looks a little bit different,” Harding said.

According to Harding, the situation escalated after a security guard approached them while they were eating breakfast.

“Even if [Roan] did send him or she didn’t send him, I don’t know, for me it felt like it really overstepped a boundary,” she said.

Harding said the guard spoke to them in what she described as a “very aggressive tone,” telling her she should teach her daughter to behave better and respect privacy.

She said she responded by explaining that Ada was a child and was excited to recognize a performer she admired.

She also told the guard that Ada was familiar with public figures due to her stepfather’s career in Brazil and would not intentionally violate boundaries.

Harding said she further pointed out that the interaction took place in a public hotel space.

At that point, Harding said she suggested that if Roan wanted to avoid attention entirely, she could have chosen to eat privately in her room. Harding said that as a hotel guest, she believed she had the right to be in the shared space.

The incident ultimately affected Ada’s plans to attend Roan’s performance later that day. Harding said her daughter chose not to go to the concert, which had been planned as a birthday gift.

“I think she’s a very talented artist. I like her a lot,” Harding said.

“We came all the way to São Paulo to watch the show. It was my daughter’s birthday present…a little bit ruined because we didn’t go to the show last night.”

Roan, 28, has previously spoken about challenges with fame and setting boundaries with fans. Earlier this month, she reacted to photographers taking pictures of her during Paris Fashion Week in Paris.

The situation remains a dispute between the parties, with differing accounts about the involvement of the security guard and the nature of the interaction.
