A reckless driver in Volusia County thought he could outrun the law, but a police K-9 had other plans.
As reported by WFTV 9, the suspect led deputies on a dangerous high-speed chase, slamming into patrol cars before a well-placed set of spike strips and a determined police dog finally brought him down.
The chaos began on February 8 when Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a vehicle for a routine traffic stop, according to WFTV. Things escalated fast when deputies ordered the driver to step out of the car.

Instead of complying, the man shouted at law enforcement before throwing his vehicle into motion, ramming two patrol cruisers in the process.
With sirens blaring, the chase was on. The suspect wove through traffic at breakneck speeds, dodging deputies and putting innocent drivers in harm’s way.
Aerial footage captured the moment he crossed into oncoming traffic, showing blatant disregard for public safety. But his joyride didn’t last long. Deputies deployed spike strips, forcing the driver to lose control and crash into a red light.
Not ready to give up, the suspect scrambled out of the wrecked car and took off on foot. However, he quickly learned that running from the long arm of the law doesn’t end well—especially when a K-9 is involved.
Within seconds, the police dog took him down, and deputies moved in to make the arrest.

Authorities later confirmed that this wasn’t the suspect’s first brush with the law. He now faces a long list of charges, including aggravated fleeing, battery on a law enforcement officer, and reckless driving.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood didn’t mince words when addressing the situation. “When you run, it doesn’t just put your life in danger—it jeopardizes everyone else around you,” he stated.
“We’re trained professionals; let us do our jobs.”
In Florida, criminals should know by now—law enforcement won’t tolerate reckless threats to public safety. Whether by roadblocks, spike strips, or well-trained K-9s, justice will be served one way or another.
