Former Clinton pollster Doug Schoen expressed concerns over Kamala Harris’ “inauthenticity” during an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show on Tuesday, as the 2024 election approaches.
Schoen pointed to Harris’ lack of a compelling record and clear agenda, a problem he believes is contributing to her declining appeal among voters.
Schoen’s comments come as recent polls show a tightening race between former President Donald Trump and Harris, with Trump holding a slight lead in several key battleground states, according to RealClearPolitics polling averages.

During the interview, host Megyn Kelly criticized Harris’ record as “not impressive.” Schoen agreed, arguing that voters seem to share that view. “I don’t think there’s anything, Megyn, about her record that is particularly impressive,” Schoen said.
He explained that Harris has struggled to present a cohesive narrative of her accomplishments, both from her time as a prosecutor and attorney general.
“Whether it be her record as a law student, as a lawyer, as a prosecutor, as an attorney general, there doesn’t appear to be any overarching argument she can make other than, ‘I’m the same as Joe Biden and whatever positions I’ve taken that are unpopular I’m only too happy to alter to fit the political climate,’” Schoen added.
Schoen also pointed to Harris’ perceived lack of authenticity as a significant issue. “What I see is a problem that goes beyond integrity to inauthenticity, which I think as Election Day approaches is actually the larger issue that she faces,” Schoen stated. “Voters are seeing that there’s no record, there’s no agenda for the future, and there’s no sense of character about her that gives people real confidence.”
Schoen’s comments reflect growing concerns within the Democratic Party about Harris’ ability to connect with key voting groups, including Hispanics and black men, which could be pivotal in determining the outcome of the election.
Polling and analyses suggest that Harris has been losing ground with these constituencies, raising alarm among Democrats about her prospects in a tight race against Trump.
In response to these concerns, Harris introduced the “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men” on October 14, a policy proposal aimed at addressing economic barriers for black entrepreneurs.
The plan offers $20,000 loans to 1 million black entrepreneurs and others facing difficulties in starting or growing businesses.
However, efforts to rally voter support may face challenges, as seen at a rally in Pennsylvania on October 10.
Harris appeared on stage with former President Barack Obama, but Obama’s message drew pushback after he criticized undecided voters, potentially alienating segments of the electorate.

As the 2024 election draws nearer, both parties are sharpening their strategies, and Harris’ performance on the campaign trail will be critical in determining whether she can regain momentum and sway key voting blocs.
