Former Vice President Kamala Harris is weighing her next political move as speculation swirls about whether she will enter the 2026 California gubernatorial race or prepare for another White House bid in 2028, as Fox News reported.

Harris recently signaled she intends to remain active in politics, using social media to rally Democrats against President Donald Trump’s administration.

Vice President Kamala Harris greets the crowd in Jenison Field House on the Michigan State campus Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024.

In a post earlier this month, Harris wrote:

“Today in every state across our nation, Americans are standing up to the administration.”

She also took a swipe at Trump’s top advisor, Elon Musk, saying, “The voices of working people will always be louder than the unelected billionaires.”

Today in every state across our nation, Americans are standing up to the administration as they implement Project 2025 at full speed.

Thank you for using your voices and the power of protest to stand for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; for the Department of Education…

In a possible preview of things to come, Harris posted a video clip of a speech in which she declared, “I’ll see you out there. I’m not going anywhere.”

That message followed a video address to the Democratic National Committee earlier this year, where she promised to be with the party “every step of the way.”

“We have some hard work ahead of us, but you know what I like to say, hard work is good work, hard work is joyful work… I will be with you every step of the way.” –

Despite these public statements, Harris has made limited appearances since losing the 2024 election to President Trump.

Unlike her former running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris has not attended rallies or held town halls, and has avoided interviews and podcasts, leaving speculation to fill the vacuum.

Her remarks are nonetheless drawing scrutiny.

At an April 3 event in Dana Point, California, speaking to a group of Black female leaders and business figures, Harris said, “I’m not here to say I told you so,” referencing her warnings about Trump during the 2024 campaign.

The comment drew laughter and quickly spread online.

While Harris remains quiet about her plans, her potential political paths are narrowing. Allies and analysts note she is unlikely to run for both governor in 2026 and president in 2028.

If she chooses to enter the gubernatorial race and wins, a presidential run would likely be off the table due to timing and political demands.

Harris, who has served as San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general, and U.S. senator, is no stranger to state and national politics.

A source close to Harris confirmed to Fox News Digital that she is expected to make a decision about the California race by the end of summer, a report first revealed by Politico.

Meanwhile, other Democrats are not waiting. Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who launched his campaign last year, criticized Harris for delaying her decision.

“California is not a stepping stone to higher office. You can’t run at the end of the rainbow. We saw a 100-day campaign. Look what that brought us.”

Other declared candidates, including former Rep. Katie Porter and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, have echoed similar concerns.

Still, polling suggests Harris would be the clear frontrunner should she enter the race. Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, a close ally of Harris, is among those who may withdraw if Harris decides to run.

Top Democrats, including former DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe, have reportedly encouraged her to seek the governorship. Even President Trump weighed in during a recent podcast, saying:

“Let her run. One thing she’s going to do, she’s got to start doing interviews.”

Harris has not publicly commented on the timeline for her decision.
