Kamala Harris, fresh off her devastating loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race, reportedly sought advice from none other than Hillary Clinton, as reported by The New York Post.
According to a report from New York Magazine, Harris has had multiple discussions with Clinton as she navigates her uncertain political future. Given their shared experiences, it’s no surprise Harris turned to the former secretary of state for guidance.
Clinton, now 77, was the first woman to secure the Democratic nomination for president and win the popular vote, though the Electoral College dashed her dreams in 2016.

Harris, 60, similarly made history as the first female vice president and only the second woman to lead the Democratic presidential ticket.
After vacating the vice presidency, Harris has been exploring her next move while consulting family, friends, and trusted confidants. Her sister, Maya Harris, a seasoned political strategist, has been a key adviser, having also chaired Harris’ failed 2020 presidential campaign.
While Harris declared after her loss that she plans to “stay in the fight,” she’s yet to reveal specifics. Insiders believe she is carefully keeping her options open for a potential presidential run in 2028.
Others speculate that she might consider running for governor of California in 2026, as Gavin Newsom will be term-limited.
Hillary Clinton’s post-election journey seems to resonate with Harris. Clinton grappled with her own political future after her 2016 defeat but ultimately stepped away from running for office again.
Instead, she channeled her energy into academia, joining Columbia University as a professor of international and public affairs.
For Harris, the political landscape appears more complicated. While California’s Senate seats are currently filled, a gubernatorial bid could keep her in the spotlight. On the flip side, her bruising 2024 loss looms large, and she’ll need to shake the stigma if she wants to remain a viable candidate.
Adding intrigue to Harris’ plans, public records from her 2024 campaign revealed the creation of an LLC called “Pioneer49,” referencing her Secret Service codename and position as the 49th vice president. Whether this is tied to a future political move or not remains unclear.
Harris’ sudden ascent to the top of the Democratic ticket occurred after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race last summer. Biden, now 82, later suggested he could’ve won had he stayed in the race.
“It’s presumptuous to say, but I think yes, based on the polling,” he told USA Today in a parting interview.
Harris, for her part, refrained from criticizing Biden during her campaign, a move that reportedly frustrated some Democratic strategists. Meanwhile, Trump, who reclaimed the White House with his 2024 win, hasn’t held back from reveling in his victory.
The parallels between Clinton’s and Harris’ career trajectories are undeniable. Both broke barriers as women in high office but ultimately faced humiliating defeats on the national stage.
While Clinton chose to step out of the political ring, all eyes are on Harris to see if she will chart a similar course—or attempt a comeback.
