Former Vice President Kamala Harris adjusted the handle of her relaunched Kamala HQ social media account less than a day after its debut, following widespread reaction and mockery online, as reported by Fox News.
The account, which was reintroduced Thursday as a “Gen-Z led progressive content hub,” initially appeared on X under the handle “@headquarters_67.”
Shortly after the relaunch, the handle was changed again to “headquarters68_,” with no public explanation provided for the switch.

The rebranded account, now simply called “HQ,” shared a launch video Thursday with the caption, “Welcome to Headquarters, the new Gen-Z led progressive content hub.”
The original “67” handle quickly drew attention across social media, with many users speculating it was a reference to the so-called “6-7” meme. The reaction was swift, and the handle change followed soon after.
Fox News Digital contacted Harris’ office to ask whether the original handle was intended to reference the viral meme and whether the change was made in response to online criticism. The outlet did not receive an immediate response.
The relaunch video featured Harris responding to a question about the account’s return.

“Well, I’m so glad you asked. I have good news,” Harris said in the video.
“So, Kamala HQ is turning into ‘Headquarters,’ and it’s where you can go online to get basically the latest of what’s going on, and also to meet and revisit with some of our great courageous leaders, be they elected leaders, community leaders, civic leaders, faith leaders, young leaders. I’m really excited about it. So stay engaged, and I’ll see you out there. Thank you.”

Reaction to the rollout extended beyond the handle itself.
Conservative commentators criticized both the relaunch strategy and the messaging, with some questioning whether the effort would resonate beyond a narrow online audience.

Journalist Chris Rufo commented on the apparent meme reference, writing that the number choice already felt outdated.
My children have informed me that “67” is already old, tired, and cringe, so once again, Kamala is coming up short. https://t.co/xg0CHreOJh

Conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller also weighed in with a sarcastic post referencing the “67” number.
6 7.. Do you get it!

The Republican Jewish Coalition joined the reaction online, posting, “On behalf of every Republican in the country: run, Kamala, run!”

Criticism was not limited to the political right. Stefanie Feldman, who previously served as national policy director for Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, publicly questioned the approach being taken by the account.
Her comments followed an exchange in which the official GOP X account reposted Harris’ rebrand video with a thumbs-up emoji. The “HQ” account responded with a middle finger emoji.
“Does this help Democrats win over more voters or mobilize voters?” Feldman wrote Thursday, sharing a screenshot of the exchange.
Democratic strategist Matt Corridoni echoed that concern, arguing that efforts to appear trendy online can distract from more direct political messaging.
He wrote that the “quest to feel cool on the internet has stopped some candidates from just acting normal.”
The quest to feel cool on the internet has stopped some candidates from just acting normal.@StefFeldman is 100% right – we can’t become a party driven by clicks. Our metrics of success need to be wholistic & focused on actually moving voters, not “yasss queen”-ing ourselves. https://t.co/xgMsYX5TZd

The updated “headquarters68_” handle remains active as of Friday, with the account continuing to post content aligned with its stated goal of targeting younger, progressive audiences.
