Former Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly grappling with personal and political challenges in the wake of her defeat to President Donald Trump in the recent presidential election.
While presenting a united front with her husband, Doug Emhoff, at public events, sources suggest tensions within their marriage are mounting as Harris considers her next career move.
Insiders reveal that Harris, who has been vocal about her plans to remain in the political arena, is now reassessing her future and reportedly shifting blame for her loss onto those around her, including her husband.

“There’s plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned, and Doug has his share,” a source told DailyMail.com.
“Doug did Kamala no favors during the election. Frankly, he looked like a hypocritical [person] after the bombshells that he had got his child’s nanny pregnant while married to his first wife and assaulted his ex-girlfriend on the heels of his ‘I am woman’ crusade.”
Emhoff has faced allegations regarding his past, including claims of an extramarital affair with his daughter’s nanny and accusations of misconduct with a former girlfriend.
While Emhoff admitted to the affair and addressed the fallout, he has categorically denied the allegations of physical abuse.
At President Trump’s inauguration, Harris and Emhoff were seen sitting together with tense expressions during Trump’s speech, particularly when he proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
The couple’s demeanor reportedly mirrored the strain within their marriage, fueled by public scrutiny and Emhoff’s reported new job with a New York-based law firm, which could result in them living apart between Los Angeles and New York.
A source close to Harris commented, “It’s not like she hasn’t had men help further her political career before. But what does Doug do for her now?”
Emhoff’s past actions have drawn significant attention, particularly during Harris’s campaign.
Reports allege that he had an affair with his daughter’s nanny, Najen Naylor, which resulted in a pregnancy and a subsequent miscarriage.
Emhoff reportedly paid Naylor $80,000 in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement.
In addition, a former girlfriend accused Emhoff of slapping her during an event in Cannes, France, in 2012.
Emhoff denied the accusation, stating through a spokesperson, “Any suggestion that Doug would or has ever hit a woman is false.”
Former colleagues at the Los Angeles law firm Venable have also accused Emhoff of fostering a misogynistic work environment, including hosting male-only events and allegedly favoring young, attractive associates for professional engagements.
Harris has not publicly addressed any of these allegations.
Harris, described by her allies as “relentless” and determined to maintain her political relevance, is reportedly planning to write a book to boost her finances and rebuild her image.
Speculation is growing over whether she will run for governor of California in 2026 or launch another bid for the presidency in 2028.
Her former communications chief, Ashley Etienne, told DailyMail.com, “She told me, ‘You know me well enough to know that I’m not going to go away quietly.’”
While Harris navigates the fallout from her election loss and the strains in her marriage, her next moves will likely shape her political legacy.
As the Democrat once seen as a rising star faces a tarnished reputation, she must confront both personal and professional challenges to rebuild her standing on the national stage.
