White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday denounced former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki for comments she made following the deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Psaki wrote on X that she had “enough” of Christians offering “thoughts and prayers” after tragedies.

Her remarks came in the aftermath of a shooting carried out by Robin Westman, who killed two children and injured 17 others before taking his own life inside the church.
Leavitt, speaking with Daily Caller White House correspondent Reagan Reese, called Psaki’s comments offensive to millions of Americans of faith.
“I saw the comments of my predecessor, Ms. Psaki, and frankly I think they’re incredibly insensitive and disrespectful to the tens of millions of people with faith across this country who believe in the power of prayer, who believe that prayer works and that in a time of mourning like this, when beautiful young children were killed while praying in a church, it’s utterly disrespectful to deride the power of prayer in this country,” Leavitt said.
“And it’s disrespectful to the millions of people of faith. And I would encourage Ms. Psaki to pray for these families themselves who need it right now more than ever.”
With class and calm, Karoline Leavitt just absolutely wrecked Jen Psaki for mocking the power of prayer:

The White House press secretary’s remarks followed similar comments made by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who told residents at a press conference not to offer “thoughts and prayers.”
Frey’s statements were praised by Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar and CNN’s Dana Bash during a segment of Inside Politics.
CNN’s Dana Bash just said this on live TV:
“Forget about thoughts and prayers. These kids were literally praying when they were murdered through a church window.”

Authorities confirmed that Westman, who identified as transgender, opened fire through a stained-glass window of the church during morning mass.
The gunfire killed two children, ages eight and ten, and left 14 other children and three adults wounded. Victims were transported to nearby hospitals.
Investigators recovered writings from Westman describing struggles with gender identity and mental health. In the documents, Westman expressed regret over previous decisions and wrote about feelings of not fitting into either gender.
Officials also confirmed that the three firearms used in the shooting had been legally purchased shortly before the incident.
The tragedy has reignited debates over faith, gun laws, mental health, and public responses to acts of violence.
Leavitt underscored the importance of prayer in times of mourning, while Psaki and others criticized its role in the national conversation.
Law enforcement officials said they are reviewing the recovered writings, the shooter’s background, and the firearm purchases as part of their ongoing inquiry.
