Actor Jason Isaacs, a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, made an unexpected appearance at the White House this week during a behind-the-scenes social media video filmed with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, as reported by The New York Post.
The encounter was captured in a TikTok video posted by influencer Kate Mackz, who is known for interviewing public figures while jogging with them. Mackz had just concluded a brief interview with Leavitt outside the White House when Isaacs appeared in the background.
“Hi guys, look who we ran into,” Mackz said, turning the camera to Isaacs, who smiled and chatted briefly with the influencer. Isaacs, best known for his roles in The White Lotus and The Patriot, agreed to participate in Mackz’s running show, saying:
“Sure, I’m in. Wait, running and talking at the same time? S**t.”

Leavitt, 27, pointed out how unexpected meetings often happen at the White House. “You just never know who you’re going to run into,” she said during the video.
Isaacs, 61, has been vocal about his opposition to Trump in recent years.

The British actor was in Washington, D.C., last week for events surrounding the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

According to the Daily Beast, Isaacs referred to President Trump as a “scumbag” during the White House Correspondents’ Brunch, where he met with first responders and firefighters involved in a recent midair collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Isaacs has previously expressed concern about the impact of his political opinions on his ability to work in the U.S. In a March interview with The News Agents podcast, he said he was advised to scrub his social media history due to Trump’s return to office and his own visa status.
“I don’t know whether my clear dislike for the current president of America will affect me in future, whether I’m allowed to work there at all.”
In February, during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Isaacs compared his White Lotus character, Timothy Ratliff, to President Trump, describing him as “an enormously wealthy and self-centered person who has really only thought about himself.”
While Isaacs made no political remarks during the brief exchange with Mackz, Leavitt took the opportunity to give the influencer a personal tour of the West Wing.
She led Mackz through the press briefing room, showed her personal office, and pointed out family photos, including one of her 9-month-old son on his first Air Force One flight.
@katemackzFrom being at the White House last year speaking on a mental health panel and meeting President Biden, to being back again this year — thank you for having us. Truly surreal to walk through a place with so much history and meaning.♬ original sound – KATE MACKZ
Leavitt, the youngest person ever to serve as White House press secretary, first joined the Trump administration as an assistant press secretary during his first term. She described her return to the role as a “dream come true” and a “full-circle moment.”
