Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is reportedly taking time off and considering resignation amid internal disagreements over the Department of Justice’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, according to multiple reports circulating Friday.

Tensions appear to have risen following Attorney General Pam Bondi’s announcement earlier in the week that there is no “client list” associated with Epstein and that his 2019 death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan was officially ruled a suicide.

The Department of Justice’s conclusions have sparked frustration among some officials and members of the public, with criticism mounting over perceived shortcomings in the transparency of the investigation.

According to reports, Bongino was among those displeased with the outcome and is now evaluating whether to remain in his current position.

Speculation that FBI Director Kash Patel might also be considering resignation quickly gained traction, but veteran investigative journalist and Just the News founder John Solomon directly refuted that claim during a Friday night broadcast.

“There are reports tonight that Kash Patel is considering resigning alongside of Dan Bongino. It is not true,” Solomon said.

“My reporting makes very clear Kash is going nowhere unless the president tries to move Kash Patel. He’s there for the long haul.”

Solomon’s remarks came during a live segment of Just the News, No Noise, which aired special footage from Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit 2025.

During the broadcast, Solomon addressed the Epstein investigation’s impact within the administration and confirmed that Bongino is “still mulling his options.”

Solomon emphasized that Patel remains committed to a long-running FBI investigation into efforts to undermine President Donald Trump through now-discredited allegations of Russian collusion.

“The FBI has a major investigation that looks at the last 10 years of what happened to Donald Trump as one large conspiracy case,” Solomon said.

“No one’s going to give up that opportunity.”

Regarding Bongino, Solomon stated, “It is true that Dan Bongino, he’s taking a few days to reconsider whether he wants to stay in the job. That’s his decision.”

Solomon added that while Bongino is weighing his future, he ultimately expects the deputy director to stay. “I bet you he’ll come back when it’s all done,” he said.

Solomon also previewed upcoming developments that he believes will deliver long-awaited answers to Trump supporters, particularly in relation to past efforts by intelligence and law enforcement officials to investigate or impede Donald Trump’s presidency.

“I think next week, over the next 10 days, in the base who’s been wondering, where’s all that accountability?” Solomon said.

“They’re going to get some big surprises… concerning where the conspiracy began, a few weeks before Crossfire Hurricane was opened, and when it ended all the way in 2024, when they were still trying to pursue Donald Trump to keep him from winning the presidency.”

Solomon stated that a major case has been developed by both the Department of Justice and the FBI and that forthcoming revelations will bring clarity to years of internal investigations.

“It’s been masked by a lot of this infighting and drama and soap opera stuff,” he said.

“But the truth of the matter is, MAGA base Americans are going to be happy when they see where this is all heading in the next few weeks.”
