Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have shared their thoughts on President Donald Trump’s expected attendance at Super Bowl LIX, with both players saying they are “honored” by the possibility of playing in front of the sitting president.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mahomes addressed Trump’s anticipated presence at the game, where the Chiefs will attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
“It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president,” Mahomes said. “Someone that is at the top position in our country.”

When asked on Wednesday whether he planned to attend the game, President Trump did not confirm but hinted at which team he might be supporting.
“I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner,” Trump said.
While Trump did not explicitly name Mahomes, his past praise for the Chiefs quarterback and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, suggests he was referring to him.
Mahomes took note of the comment and said he appreciated the recognition from the commander-in-chief.
“It’s cool to hear that he’s seen me play football and respects the game that I play,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes was not the only Chiefs star to react to Trump’s possible presence at the Super Bowl.
During media day, Travis Kelce, the team’s star tight end, also addressed the president’s expected attendance.
Kelce, who has been dating pop superstar Taylor Swift for the past two years, acknowledged the historical significance of having the president at the event.
“I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know. And having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool,” Kelce said.

The Chiefs organization has also reacted to the news. Gracie Hunt, the daughter of team owner Clark Hunt, spoke about Trump’s presence on Riley Gaines’ podcast.
“It’s pretty cool. It’s pretty awesome,” Hunt said.
“Sometimes, I just look at whoever I’m talking to, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, that just wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.’ But, wow, that’s just absolutely incredible.”
While Mahomes has opted not to endorse a candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, he has encouraged fans to participate in the voting process.
“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Mahomes stated.
“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”
His wife, Brittany Mahomes, previously made headlines for liking an Instagram post supporting Trump’s policies, drawing backlash from left-wing activists.
Meanwhile, pop star Taylor Swift made a high-profile endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris on September 10.
Following Swift’s endorsement, Trump told “Fox & Friends” that he liked Brittany Mahomes “much better” than Swift.
Mahomes responded the next day when asked about Trump’s remarks.
“I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.”
Ahead of Super Bowl LIX, President Trump posted a message on Truth Social, praising both teams and wishing them luck.
“Two great quarterbacks in this game. Also, an unbelievable running back, and the absolute best tight end in football (Ever!). Incredible coaching! If they would only get rid of that really weird looking new Kickoff ‘deal,’ which actually makes football more dangerous, they would be doing everybody, especially the fans, a big favor.”
Trump also confirmed he will be conducting an interview before the game at 3:00 P.M., making it the first pre-Super Bowl presidential interview in four years.
“ANYWAY, IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME!!! I’ll be doing the interview, before the game, at 3:00 P.M. There hasn’t been one in four years (Gee, I wonder why?).”
As Super Bowl LIX approaches, Trump’s possible attendance has added another layer of intrigue to the highly anticipated matchup.
