Rapper Kid Rock addressed the news that former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration next week during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Thursday.
Kid Rock, who is set to perform during the inauguration festivities, shared his thoughts on Michelle Obama’s absence and reflected on his own experience performing at the inauguration of former President Barack Obama, despite not voting for him.
Kid Rock began by noting that he had heard the news of Michelle Obama’s decision while listening to Watters’ show earlier.

“I was actually listening to your show a little bit before I got in the truck here. And I heard Michelle Obama’s not attending,” Kid Rock said.

The singer then pointed out that he had performed at Barack Obama’s first inauguration out of respect for the office, even though he had not supported him politically.
“I would kindly remind her that years back, when Obama was first elected, I did not vote for him, but they asked me to play the inauguration, and I played it, and I went, had a good time,” he said.
“I went for — out of respect to the presidency. So I would kindly remind Ms. Michelle about that.”
When Watters asked why Michelle Obama might be skipping the event when other former first ladies are attending, Kid Rock responded, “I don’t know. She seems a little angry. She might be — wow. I don’t know. If you can’t say something nice, let me hear it.”
The Obamas’ decision not to attend Trump’s inauguration comes amid speculation surrounding their absence from former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral, which has fueled rumors of marital discord between the former first couple.
Kid Rock is one of several high-profile performers slated to appear at events surrounding Trump’s inauguration.
Other acts include country music superstars Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, as well as Billy Ray Cyrus and the Village People.
Ahead of the main event, Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus will perform at a rally, where Kid Rock promises a carefully choreographed and unique performance.
Kid Rock shared details about his extensive preparations for the event, emphasizing his commitment to creating a memorable experience.
“I mean, I have spent so much time on this, when I was first asked to do it, and it was kind of a thing where they’re like, can you show up and play the track, do a couple songs?” Kid Rock explained.
“And I was like, respectfully, I’m not interested in that at all. I’d rather help you any way I can. I’m a supporter.”
The singer detailed how he developed a full performance plan, saying, “I put something together, put it all down on paper to the minute, everything choreographed — this, this, and this. They loved it.”
While the Secret Service limited some of his original plans, including the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics, Kid Rock confirmed that he still has “something very special planned” for the rally.
