Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem criticized the FBI over what she suggested was a leak of sensitive information regarding a planned immigration enforcement operation in Los Angeles.
On Friday, The Los Angeles Times reported that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was planning a large-scale operation targeting individuals without legal status or those with pending removal orders.
According to the report, the details of the operation were obtained from an internal government document reviewed by the publication.

The document was reportedly circulated among some government officials last week.
The Times also cited an anonymous federal law enforcement source who claimed that agents from the FBI’s Los Angeles field office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had been called in to assist with the operation.
Following the publication of the article, Noem took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustration over the apparent leak of the operation’s details.
“The FBI is so corrupt,” Noem wrote. “We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.”

ICE sources later told Fox News they were uncertain about the basis for Noem’s accusations.
DHS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. The FBI declined to issue a statement on the matter.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed concerns about government leaks and immigration enforcement during an appearance on Fox Report on Sunday.

“Well, you know, if anyone leaks anything, people don’t understand that it jeopardizes the lives of our great men and women in law enforcement, and if you leaked it, we will find out who you are, and we will come after you,” Bondi stated. “It’s not going to stop our mission. It’s not going to stop the president’s mission to make America safe again.”
Bondi emphasized that individuals who refuse to follow immigration enforcement laws will face prosecution by the Department of Justice.
During the interview, Bondi was also asked about reports from Denver, Colorado, where individuals used bullhorns to warn illegal immigrants about approaching ICE agents, advising them on how to evade law enforcement.
When asked whether such actions could be prosecuted, Bondi indicated that it could constitute obstruction of justice.
“It very well could rise to the level of obstruction, and we will be looking at every single case where someone jeopardizes the lives of the great men and women in law enforcement, and they will be held accountable,” Bondi said.
She added, “If you leak, if you do anything, like you said, if you come out with bullhorns that could jeopardize their lives, we will investigate it, and we will come after you.”
With Noem’s accusations against the FBI and Bondi’s warnings against leaks and interference in immigration enforcement, the situation remains under scrutiny.
As ICE operations continue, further responses from federal agencies regarding the alleged leaks and potential legal action against individuals obstructing law enforcement efforts are expected in the coming weeks.
