The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially halted all grant funding to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) accused of assisting illegal immigration into the United States.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement during an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Will Cain, stating that the agency is taking action to ensure taxpayer dollars are not misused to support activities that undermine national security.
Speaking with Cain, Noem confirmed the immediate halt of federal grant funds that have been funneled to NGOs allegedly aiding illegal border crossings.

“Yes, well, thank you, Will, for inviting me to be with you. Today, we are announcing that we have stopped all grant funding that’s being abused by NGOs to facilitate illegal immigration into this country,” Noem stated.
The Secretary expressed deep concern over the scale of taxpayer money previously allocated to organizations that have been accused of contributing to the border crisis.
“So it’s amazing to me the hundreds of millions of dollars that have been spent by the federal government that has been sent to NGOs to facilitate this invasion of our country,” she said.
Noem emphasized that the department’s decision aligns with President Trump’s commitment to securing the border and enforcing immigration laws.
She stated that DHS will be conducting a thorough review of how federal grants are allocated to ensure funds are used to strengthen the country rather than weaken it.
“So I’ve taken action to stop that, those funds, to reevaluate them, and to make sure that we’re actually using the taxpayer dollars in a way that strengthens this country, that keeps us safe,” Noem said.
According to the Secretary, there will be increased scrutiny of federal grants moving forward, ensuring they are not being used to assist illegal immigration efforts.
“So I think people are curious, when we look at grants that are given out by federal agencies, at how they’re utilized, and that evaluation needs to be done,” Noem added.
The move is part of a broader initiative under the Trump administration’s return to stricter immigration enforcement policies. Noem reaffirmed that her department is working in line with the President’s promises.
“We’re not spending another time to help the destruction of this country. We’re going to make sure that we follow through on what President Trump has promised, and that’s to make sure that we’re securing our border, deporting those who are here illegally and committing criminal actions, and that our taxpayer dollars aren’t spent to help it,” Noem stated.

The Biden-Harris administration’s border policies led to a record surge in illegal crossings, with taxpayer funds often flowing to NGOs providing aid to migrants.
The new DHS directive marks a significant policy shift, redirecting federal resources away from programs accused of enabling illegal immigration.
The halt in funding represents a decisive step toward the administration’s pledge to restore law and order at the southern border.
With the reevaluation of grants and renewed enforcement efforts, DHS is signaling that the era of unchecked spending on organizations aiding illegal entry into the U.S. has come to an end.
