Lauren Boebert Pushes Legislation to Shut Down the ATF [WATCH]

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert delivered a scathing critique of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), accusing the agency of overstepping its authority and undermining public trust.

Speaking on the role of federal agencies in crafting regulations, Boebert reaffirmed her commitment to the Second Amendment and called for an end to overreach by unelected bureaucrats.

“Bureaucrats don’t create laws. Congress does,” Boebert stated. “This rule functions like a law that Congress never passed.”

The congresswoman pointed to past actions by the ATF, specifically referencing Operation Fast and Furious, a controversial operation during which firearms ended up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

Boebert highlighted this as an example of the agency’s “recklessness” and its failure to uphold the rule of law.

“We don’t trust the ATF because of their overreaching actions, exactly like we’re seeing with this rule,” she said.

“Instead of providing regulations that keep our communities safe, this agency has made our communities more dangerous by wandering weapons to the cartels. Operation Fast and Furious exposed the recklessness of the ATF, how little regard they have for the rule of law.”

Boebert argued that such incidents have eroded public confidence in the agency and its ability to enforce regulations in a manner that is both effective and legitimate. “Americans have had a hard time viewing these agencies and its rules as legitimate,” she added.

The Colorado congresswoman also took aim at gun-free zones, describing them as some of the most perilous areas in the country.

“Gun-free zones are the most dangerous places in our country,” Boebert said, emphasizing the importance of self-defense and the Second Amendment as a cornerstone of American freedoms.

In her closing remarks, Boebert reiterated her unwavering support for the Second Amendment, calling it “absolute” and non-negotiable. “The Second Amendment is absolute, and it’s here to stay,” she declared.
