Radio host Glenn Beck criticized members of Congress for failing to advance the SAVE AMERICA Act, arguing that the legislation has stalled not because of political strategy but because lawmakers are unwilling to put in the effort required to force the bill through the Senate.

Beck said some lawmakers may benefit from keeping election rules flexible, but he argued that the primary obstacle is the demanding process required to sustain a traditional filibuster and maintain continuous Senate sessions.

“You know why they’re really not passing this? This is the God’s honest truth. This is why they’re not passing it,” Beck said, before suggesting some politicians may prefer the current system.

“I think some of them know that. You know where their their bread is buttered, and they really they need to keep this loosey goosey.”

He acknowledged that some lawmakers could benefit politically from the status quo but said he believes the larger issue is the work required to push the bill forward.

“So, you know, maybe they, maybe they benefit from a few votes that come their way. I think that’s a possibility,” Beck said.

“But I really think the reason why they won’t send is because it’s too much work. I honestly believe it is because they are too damn lazy.”

Beck said forcing the legislation forward would require senators to maintain a continuous session under a standing filibuster, meaning lawmakers from both parties would have to remain present to maintain a quorum at all times.

“It requires that they keep the session going, which means you have to have a quorum,” Beck said.

“You have to have enough Republicans and Democrats in the in the Senate, the well of the Senate, 24 hours a day while this is going on.”

If the chamber fails to maintain that presence, the legislative day would end and the effort would collapse.

“If you don’t, then it ends the Legislative Day. And so then you you’re screwed,” Beck said.

“You have to keep the filibuster going and never end the Legislative Day, even if it goes for 60 days.”

According to Beck, maintaining that process would require senators to remain in Washington for extended periods without leaving for personal or political obligations.

“You have to be there. People have to be manning that place. 24/7,” Beck said, explaining that the schedule would prevent senators from returning home during the process.

“That means the senators are not going to go home. They’re not going to have weekends. They’re not going to be able to fly back to their constituents and their families and their fundraisers and everything else.”

He added that the process would also require constant scheduling and coordination among lawmakers.

“It’s going to take a lot of work for the management of you know, the Republicans,” Beck said.

“Hey, who’s on duty? When are you going to be there? When am I going to be there? Who’s next?”

“It’s going to take management, and it’s going to take people with stamina and people who actually believe in something,” he said.

“And I honestly don’t think there’s enough senators in Washington, DC that actually believe in the Constitution.”

Beck also argued that the SAVE AMERICA Act is aimed at restoring confidence in elections, saying the bill addresses concerns about securing the vote.

“You know this is this, this SAVE AMERICA Act is the most apt name Bill I have heard in a long time,” Beck said.

“The Patriot Act wasn’t patriotic. It wasn’t the the inflation Reduction Act had nothing to do with reducing inflation.”

“The SAVE AMERICA Act, does you secure the vote? And you can save America,” he continued.

“You don’t secure the vote, you don’t have a country left, because no one will believe the elections.”

Beck compared modern election procedures with how results were typically reported in earlier years.

“This wasn’t a problem when I was a kid,” Beck said.

“And we also never, ever heard well, we won’t make we may not know the election results for a week.”

“We never heard that,” he said.

“I never heard that you voted. We counted. We got the total, you know, sometimes in the middle of the night or the next morning, but we knew.”

Beck also questioned why financial systems are able to move large sums of money securely while election systems face criticism.

“How is it we can secure our our financial transactions,” Beck said.

“How is it you can, you can secure billions of dollars online, moving from bank to bank, country to country.”

“You can do that every day, but we somehow or another, cannot secure our own vote,” he said.

“Wow, that doesn’t seem logical to me.”

“You know why? Because it’s not logical,” Beck added.

“It’s a giant game, and the Senate has to pass it.”

Beck also criticized the modern use of the Senate filibuster, arguing that it no longer resembles the traditional version that required lawmakers to physically hold the floor.

“Don’t get stopped with all these lies about how it’s going to change the filibuster,” Beck said.

“No, no, it’s not. No, it’s not.”

“It is the Mr. Smith Goes to Washington that we’ve all seen growing up,” he said.

“That’s the actual filibuster.”

Beck said the modern system allows senators to block legislation without physically speaking on the Senate floor.

“What you did was you changed the filibuster to where nobody has to stand up, nobody has to say anything,” Beck said.

“Somebody just has to text. You know, I think I’m going to filibuster this.”

“And then it goes through, and everybody’s like, Okay, we got to table that until we get 60 votes to to open it back up,” he continued.

“That’s not a filibuster. That’s a hijacking of the system.”

Beck concluded by urging Americans to contact their senators and support the legislation.

“Call your senators,” Beck said.

“This fight is not over, and it’s the most important fight to save the Republic.”
