The Trump administration has announced the termination of federal funding to Politico, which has received over $8 million in taxpayer dollars through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

This is the biggest scandal in news media history:

No employee at Politico got paid yesterday. First time ever the company missed a pay period. This is a crisis.

Now we learn Politico — a “news company” — which spent the last 10 years trying to destroy the MAGA Movement was… pic.twitter.com/DwHqEp6gjp

Dennis Quaid’s #1 Warning for Americans

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the decision during a press briefing, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to scrutinizing government spending and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used effectively.

“So upon coming out here to the briefing room, I was made aware of the funding from USAID to media outlets, including Politico, who I know has a seat in this room, and I can confirm that the more than 8 million taxpayer dollars that have gone to essentially subsidizing subscriptions to Politico on the American taxpayers’ dime will no longer be happening,” Leavitt stated.

She further explained that the Department of Justice and the Office of Government Ethics (DOJE) team is already working on canceling these payments.

The move is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to conduct a thorough review of federal expenditures and eliminate wasteful spending.

“Again, this is a whole-of-government effort to ensure that we are going line by line when it comes to the federal government’s books,” Leavitt said.

“And this President and his team are making decisions across the board on—do these receipts serve the interests of the American people? Is this a good use of the American taxpayers’ money? If it is not, that funding will no longer be sent abroad, and American taxpayers will see significant savings because of that effort.”

Press Secretary Leavitt calls out Politico to their face.

“I was made aware of funding from USAID to Media Outlets…including Politico…who I know has a seat in this room. The $8M you receive ends today. The DOGE Team is cancelling those payments now…” pic.twitter.com/s3xiy2h87F

The revelation that taxpayer funds were used to subsidize Politico subscriptions raised concerns about government spending priorities, particularly regarding funding for media organizations.

The Trump administration’s decision to cut this funding aligns with its broader commitment to fiscal responsibility and eliminating unnecessary government expenditures.

Leavitt made it clear that this action is just one example of the administration’s approach to reassessing federal spending.

The initiative aims to ensure that taxpayer dollars are directed toward programs that directly benefit the American people, rather than subsidizing private media entities.

This latest move brightly shines the spotlight on the administration’s ongoing efforts to reform government spending and reduce the burden on taxpayers, with more funding reviews expected in the coming months.
