“Trump outran the law. His allies haven’t.”

That’s how POLITICO describes the insane continued pursuit of the total destruction of anybody or anything close to Donald Trump.

NEW: Donald Trump fended off his four criminal cases but dozens of aides and allies are still on the hook in five state-level prosecutions that are likely to grind on for much of his presidency.

Whenever you hear a political person talk about “norms,” “democracy,” or use other fine words to justify doing whatever they are doing, chances are that what they are doing is sleazy, breaks norms, or at least harms “democracy.”

The lawfare against Trump and his allies has been relentless, going back to even before the 2016 election was over. And it is still going on despite the American people making clear that they see it all as illegitimate lawfare.

Despite Donald Trump’s Houdini act, the criminal cases against his allies are not disappearing.

Dozens of Trump’s top aides and political allies are still on the hook in five states where prosecutions are pending over the bid to subvert the 2020 election — and a presidential pardon can’t help them.

So while Trump himself has largely succeeded in outrunning prosecutors, his second term will nonetheless feature a split-screen with state investigators who hope to weave a narrative for jurors that puts Trump at the center of a vast conspiracy.

The two most broad and perilous cases, in Arizona and Georgia, allege Trump helped direct a sweeping plot to overturn his loss to Joe Biden. Dozens of alleged co-conspirators face wide-ranging felony counts in those two states. In Wisconsin, prosecutors have charged three allies who did critical work for Trump to develop and implement his fake elector scheme. And in Michigan and Nevada, more than 20 Republicans who acted as fake electors for Trump face fraud charges.

“Fake electors” is a term of art. When Democrats put together alternate slates for consideration, they are called “alternate electors,” and it is perfectly common. When Republicans put together alternate slates of electors, it is a crime…because Trump.

POLITICO outlines a LOOOONNNNNGGGGG list of Democrat prosecutors who are determined to drive a stake through Trump’s allies in the tradition of Letitia James, Fani Willis, and Alvin Bragg. We are supposed to believe that this is a good thing.

Trump may have “gotten away with it,” but the Javerts of the world are determined to destroy anyone associated with him that they can.

Whether or not anybody gets convicted in any of these cases is not the point: the process is the punishment. The goal is to bankrupt, humiliate, and personally destroy the people around Trump. Any talk like “nobody is above the law” is a joke coming from the people who defend the Biden crime family, applaud illegal immigration and “sanctuary” policies, and work daily to ensure that dangerous criminals walk the streets.

One of the cases is in Arizona–a state whose governor has announced her intention to fight Trump’s border policies and to protect illegal alien criminals from deportation.

“Nobody is above the law.” C’mon, man.

Trump’s victory hasn’t deterred these insane partisans, so stronger measures may be necessary.

Harvey Silverglate wrote a book called “Three Felonies a Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent.” It’s about how the federal government has created such a Byzantine set of laws that innocent people run afoul of them constantly without knowing it.

This is, of course, a bad thing because it allows for horrible abuses of power. But if “nobody is above the law,” perhaps these persecutors of Trump’s allies should start looking at what federal laws THEY may be inadvertently breaking. And hire some lawyers because there is a new Sheriff in town, and I hope he isn’t happy with these ridiculous cases.
