Security threw out a left-wing protester dressed as a Catholic cardinal on Thursday as he derailed a hearing with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.
The protester shouted “the power of Christ compels you” and held a sign reading, “Stop ICE Raids Code Pink” during a hearing held by the House Homeland Security Committee. The chairman, Republican New York Rep. Andrew Garbarino, called for the protester to be removed and arrested for the disturbance.

Security removed the man from the premises and then forced another protester out as he began shouting that ICE must get out of their communities.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has ramped up arrests and deportations of illegal immigrants since President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. ICE agents have endured an 1,150% increase in assaults and violence against them in comparison to 2024 when former President Joe Biden was in office, according to DHS.
A Tren de Agua member named Gabriel Hurtado-Cariaco was arrested in June for attempting to murder an ICE special agent, while a Mexican national was charged with throwing a Molotov cocktail at agents during the riots in Los Angeles, California.
Some Democrats have promised to defy ICE operations, including New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who claimed on Thursday that advising people on how to resist ICE is the American way.
Border czar Tom Homan said June that any government official could potentially face prosecution if they obstructed federal immigration operations.
