Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) said during a recent radio interview that Democratic Party donors are lining up behind a white male candidate for the 2028 presidential election, suggesting a strategic pivot away from the party’s recent emphasis on diversity in its national campaigns.

Crockett made the remarks during a conversation on SiriusXM’s Urban View with hosts Clay Cane and Reecie Colbert.

In the interview, she stated that Democrats are increasingly focused on finding a so-called “safe” candidate after electoral losses and may be moving toward what she described as the “safest white boy” available.

“And I think that that’s a natural fear because we just want to win. So there’s a lot of people that are like, you know what? Like, let’s go find the safest white boy we can find,” Crockett said.

“I mean, I’m just saying.”

She went on to claim that party donors are already aligning behind a specific candidate who fits that description, though she did not name the individual.

“I had a donor on the phone with me telling me that all the donors are lining up behind that candidate,” Crockett said.

“So I can tell, and I tell you, it’s not a black person nor a woman, okay?”

While Crockett did not provide further identifying details, she indicated the candidate is part of the same political faction that previously supported Joe Biden during his 2020 run.

Crockett’s comments suggest a growing concern within the Democratic Party’s progressive wing about the direction of the party’s leadership and donor influence going into the next election cycle.

As various factions within the party weigh potential candidates, Crockett’s statements highlight tensions over identity politics, representation, and electoral strategy.

Later in the interview, Crockett addressed President Donald Trump, who is currently serving his second term in office.

She criticized Democratic underestimation of Trump’s political strength and pointed to his two previous victories as evidence of his appeal to certain voter blocs.

“People fail to recognize how unique Trump is,” Crockett said.

“They continue to say, ‘Well, we lost.’ Well, they both lost to Trump. Trump who is a misogynist, Trump who is going to ramp up the misogynists in the first place because that’s what he does. He is disrespectful.”

Crockett added that she believes Trump struggles to handle her personally.

“Like, right now, he still doesn’t know how to deal with me. Because if you punch me, I’m punching back, okay?” she said.

The Biden-aligned wing of the party has not commented publicly on Crockett’s assertions about 2028 planning or donor alignment.

No formal endorsements or declared candidacies have been made by major Democratic figures for the next presidential race.

As Democrats assess their direction heading into the next election cycle, Crockett’s comments underscore internal disagreements about strategy, candidate identity, and how to compete against Trump in future contests.
