Liberal Judge Panics as Elon Musk-Backed Ads Flood Swing State Airwaves

A political action committee (PAC) with ties to billionaire Elon Musk is launching a multi-million-dollar television and field operation effort ahead of Wisconsin’s crucial Supreme Court election on April 1.

The race between conservative candidate Brad Schimel and liberal judge Susan Crawford will determine the ideological balance of the state’s highest court, with potential national implications.

America PAC, a Super PAC founded by Musk to support election integrity and voter mobilization efforts, is spending $1 million on canvassing and field operations in support of Schimel, according to state election records.

The PAC has been involved in Wisconsin’s electoral efforts before, with Musk himself previously donating $1 million to a randomly selected swing-state voter who signed his election integrity petition.

In addition to the field effort, America PAC is backing a significant television ad campaign, following an estimated $1.5 million in airtime purchases by Building America’s Future, another group backed by Musk.

According to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) contracts, more than $400,000 in ads will air in Madison, Eau Claire, Wausau, and Green Bay, while an additional $255,000 will target the Milwaukee area.

The ads are set to begin airing on Tuesday and will continue into early March.

Scott Pressler, a conservative activist known for his voter registration efforts, has repeatedly warned about the significance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

He pointed to low Republican turnout in previous judicial elections and the impact those losses have had on state election laws.

“I’m afraid history is going to repeat itself,” Pressler posted on X, highlighting how conservatives previously controlled the Wisconsin Supreme Court before losing the majority in 2023.

“By July 2024, the liberal Court reinstated drop boxes—just in time for the presidential election. While President Trump ultimately won, Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde lost,” he added.

Pressler urged conservatives to take action, calling for donors, volunteers, and influencers to support Schimel’s campaign.

“Unless people step up to take action & do it quickly, the Court will stay under liberal control,” he wrote.

“If you want drop boxes in Wisconsin, do nothing. If you want election integrity & voter ID in Wisconsin, then do everything in your power to elect Brad Schimel to the Supreme Court on April 1st.”

Musk amplified Pressler’s message, reposting it to his 218 million followers and adding, “Very important to vote Republican for the Wisconsin Supreme Court to prevent voting fraud!”

Crawford’s campaign criticized the Musk-backed ad buy, accusing the billionaire of attempting to influence the state’s judiciary.

“In D.C., Elon Musk has taken control of Americans’ private financial information and cut funding for hungry kids,” Crawford spokesperson Derrick Honeyman told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Now, Musk is trying to buy off Brad Schimel and take over control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court so that Schimel can rubber-stamp an extreme agenda of banning abortion and cozying up to corporations.”

Schimel’s campaign dismissed the attack, with spokesman Jacob Fischer responding to Breitbart News: “Susan Crawford was caught offering two congressional seats to out-of-state Democrat billionaires and has received the backing of George Soros, Reid Hoffman, and J.B. Pritzker. Susan Crawford nationalized this race on her own.”

Wisconsin Supreme Court justices serve ten-year terms, and while the race is officially nonpartisan, the ideological divide is clear.

The outcome could have significant national consequences, particularly as Democrats see an opportunity to influence state laws and potentially redraw congressional maps.

A Democrat-controlled Wisconsin Supreme Court could alter the state’s political landscape by shifting congressional district boundaries, which could result in the loss of at least two U.S. House seats for Republicans.

With national interest and major political figures weighing in, the race is expected to be one of the most closely watched judicial elections of the year.
