Liberals Discover the Importance of Borders

I’ve written a couple of articles recently about the erection of permanent and temporary checkpoints in Minnesota by anti-ICE activists, but I haven’t hit on one of the funnier things about this new development. 

It’s a theme that has run through the conflict between Minnesota leftists and the federal government. It is the basis for the claim that Operation Metro Surge is an “invasion,” and it is the rationale for ordinary citizens deputizing themselves as…border enforcers.

Leftists have discovered the purpose of borders, or perhaps more correctly, they have demonstrated that they believe that the problem isn’t borders per se, but rather who sets the borders and the laws within them. It is the same principle they use to define “free speech.” The most censorious people on earth these days are liberals, but they insist that they are the opposite because they insist that only they get to decide what is free and what is not.

Minnesota leftists are erecting border checkpoints and essentially deciding who can legally exist in a region and who will be chased down, assaulted, or harassed within their self-declared borders. They are vocal advocates of “open borders,” but they actually have a strict definition of who a citizen is and who is a foreign invader.

It’s just that they believe that 

It’s the same thing as when they loudly defend “democracy.” You may think that democracy in a Constitutional Republic means that the will expressed by the people in elections held by mutually agreed-upon rules enshrined in law will determine the law, but that is exactly wrong, according to liberals.

Democracy means liberals get to do whatever they want. Winning or losing elections is a mere formality that means nothing in reality. Laws should only be employed to punish disfavored individuals, and when they don’t actually break the law, that too, is no obstacle to punishment. 

During the Biden administration, the FACE Act was, shall we say, VIGOROUSLY enforced against people who merely sat and prayed outside abortion clinics. Septugenarians and Octagenarians were pursued to the ends of the earth for silently praying in hallways, and the Justice Department sought long prison terms for violating the FACE Act in peaceful protests. 

Reminder that Biden’s DOJ arrested all of the people in this video under the FACE Act for singing hymns outside an abortion clinic.

Keith Ellison was a big supporter of the FACE Act, including when people protested outside mosques. But suddenly, the much clearer and more violent violation of the FACE Act is no big deal, and protected by the First Amendment.

It’s not the WHAT, it is the WHO that matters. Liberals can do whatever they want, and conservatives should be utterly crushed. 

As you can see, liberals are enthusiastic about borders when it serves their purpose, just as they are enthusiastic about putting people in jail when they dislike them. It’s just that they like illegal aliens, even if they are murderers and pedophiles, and hate the carceral state, except if it means they can jail Republicans on trumped-up charges. They love the FACE Act when it serves their purpose, and deny its Constitutionality when it doesn’t. 

You and I think that laws have meaning and should be enforced; liberals think of laws as weapons and words can change meaning at a moment’s whim. 

It is a mistake to take a liberal at his word, because liberals do not believe that words have meanings. They are tools, and nothing more, intended to evoke emotional reactions and manipulate you into doing what they want. 

The technique works pretty well on highly educated, center-left people, who value words in particular. They think that ideas are being communicated when a lefty speaks to them, which they should realize by now is an absurd assumption. If you can’t grasp this basic fact after watching liberals twist the meaning of the word “woman,” you are hopeless.
