“No one is above the law,” drones the Democrat chorus as they pursue specious prosecutions of their enemies. “Except for us. And our friends. And our illegal aliens.”
President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal migration has roused retaliatory rhetoric from the Democratic Party. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued vaguely menacing remarks in response to the Trump administration’s inquiry into an altercation between Democratic members of the House of Representatives and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
“What happens if they were to go and arrest these members or if they would try to sanction them in the House of Representatives?” Fox News congressional reporter Chad Pergram asked Jeffries.
“They’ll find out,” Jeffries repeated. He elaborated: “It’s a red line. It’s very clear … I think that so-called Homeland Security spokesperson is a joke. It’s a joke. They know better than to go down that road, and it’s been made loudly and abundantly clear to the Trump administration, we’re not going to be intimidated by their tactics to try to force principled opposition from not standing up to their extremism.” (RELATED: Trump Is Allowed To Be President Again — Barely)
Our opposition is principled, yes. The primary principle is “destroy the country for short-term political gain.” Jeffries is referring to Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Public Affairs, who promised arrest would be “on the table” for Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez if she “trespasses and if she assaults law enforcement officers.”
Ocasio-Cortez has a storied history of pro-illegal alien stunts. She hosted a “Know Your Rights with ICE” webinar on Facebook, prompting Border Czar Tom Homan to investigate whether she was guilty of impeding law enforcement efforts. Ocasio-Cortez recently taunted Homan, daring him to “Come for me. Do I look like I care?” No, AOC, no one is laboring under the impression that you care about the law. Or anything beyond puffing up your public profile with publicity stunts. (RELATED: Latest Democrat Gaslighting Is Laughably Shameless)
The Democrat Party’s hubris is boundless. But why shouldn’t it be? Republicans allowed them to operate in such a manner for years, offering only the occasional limp-wristed criticism of hypocrisy. Liberals flourished in a two-tiered justice system. Burning down a city was a peaceful protest, but using the wrong words was literal violence. They spared no mercy for their political enemies. Recall Jeffries’ histrionic response to the events of January 6, 2021:
Trying to process this powerful testimony.
It’s clear we could all have died on January 6.
Thankful to the heroic officers who saved our lives.
And protected America from the violent grip of tyranny.

I was there on January 6th.
Trump is responsible for the violent insurrection.
That day will live in infamy.

Jeffries’ wonky version of justice is getting a swift course correction, whether he likes it or not. Democratic Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was reportedly arrested outside an immigration detention facility after attempting to trespass on the grounds. The mayor “ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center,” according to the Interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba. Baraka was joined by several Democratic Representatives from New Jersey. If arresting people who flagrantly violate the law is a red line, thankfully, it’s one the Trump administration is willing to cross.
