Rick Wilson is one of those former Republican NeverTrumpers whose departure from alliance to the Republican Party has been accompanied by a zealous loyalty to the most extreme Leftist ideology.
Contrary to popular opinion, this is not the case for all NeverTrumpers. Most, surely, but there are people who have left the Republican Party due to an allegiance to earlier Republican orthodoxy and, hence, still remain mostly within the conservative orbit. They are establishmentarians and anti-populists but not far-left Democrats.
Integrity demands that we acknowledge that.
Wilson, though, is more in the Jennifer Rubin camp–grifters who have become emotionally incontinent by their loss of power and prestige in Republican circles and who have jumped to the far left, to harvest the money and power where it can now be obtained.
TERROR: Before targeting Tesla, Rick Wilson said that someone needed to “put a bullet in Donald Trump” to stop him. Now calling Trump and Elon Musk authoritarian dictators, his extreme rhetoric and call for an attack on Tesla are unhinged and dangerous. pic.twitter.com/cFgNVhvzkM

Wilson has always been despicable and devious, but no doubt the people around him tolerated him because he was “on our side.” He is a disgusting man in every way, and notably founded the Lincoln Project with a pedophile who was later forced to resign.
For the sake of brevity, I will include Wikipedia’s brief description of his career:
Wilson entered the political arena by campaigning for Connie Mack during the 1988 Florida Senate election. Later, he served on the George H. W. Bush campaign as Florida field director.[6]
Wilson played a significant role in the 2002 United States Senate election in Georgia, in which Saxby Chambliss was facing Democratic Party Senator Max Cleland, a disabled Vietnam veteran and recipient of the Silver Star. Wilson helped create an ad that criticized Cleland, while also tying him to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. The ad appeared to question Cleland’s patriotism.[7][8] In an interview with HuffPost, Wilson stated that he thought that “DHS [Department of Homeland Security] was on the front line against Osama bin Laden”.[9] As Wilson reflected in 2016, “The Cleland ad was powerful because it went to his strengths […] Everyone assumed Cleland was immune to critiques on national security issues. […] they didn’t calculate that I have no moral center when it comes to political ads, and I will destroy the innocent and the guilty”.[10] Following Cleland’s death in 2021, Wilson received criticism from journalists such as Glenn Greenwald and Charlie Pierce.[11][12]
In 2012, Wilson posted to Instagram an image of a cooler emblazoned with a Confederate battle flag and the words “The South Shall Rise Again”, prompting allegations of racism.[13][14][15] After public backlash, Wilson eventually deleted the post. It resurfaced in 2020 while The Lincoln Project was airing television ads attacking the public display of that flag.[13][15][14] He had left the Republican Party following the 2016 United States presidential election, and in late 2019, co-founded The Lincoln Project, a Super PAC organized by then-current and former Republicans opposed to and working to prevent the re-election of Donald Trump in the 2020 United States presidential election.[16]
In January 2020, Wilson appeared alongside CNN anchor Don Lemon and CNN contributor Wajahat Ali in which they discussed an exchange between United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and NPR reporter Mary Louise Kelly. During this segment, Wilson made comments about Trump supporters, stating they were “part of the credulous boomer rube demo”. He employed the tone of Southern American English in the segment for emphasis.[17] Wilson has been known to use extremely crude language and generalizations, such as, when criticizing supporters of Donald Trump during an interview with MSNBC leading up to the 2016 presidential election, he called them “childless single men who masturbate to anime”.[18]
Wilson has been one of the major spreaders of hoaxes and lies aimed at Trump and MAGA–why not? he admits he has no moral center and will harm the innocent as well as the guilty–and repeatedly calls for violence in veiled and not-so-veiled terms. Were he still a Republican he would not be swimming in millions of dollars of donations from billionaires, but reviled from sea to sea.
But he is now a Democrat, so it’s nice he is doing it.
Rick has a habit of calling Trump and MAGA Nazis and then posting things like this:
If you want to find examples of Wilson, who wants “Nazis” killed, calling people “Nazi” you can have fun here.
The Lincoln Project, unsurprisingly, is just as extreme as Wilson because, in most respects, it is just Wilson and some buddies of his grifting off the billionaire who throw money at them. Millions of that money wind up in the pockets of the grifters, who “consult” for the Project.

What is striking now is how closely the Lincoln Project has drifted into the orbit of the violent wing of the #resistance. It’s not clear to me whether this race to the radical left is strategic or simply derangement. I suspect the latter.
By now, it is ridiculous to even bother attacking Wilson for being a total scumbag–it’s not like anyone you can convince with evidence doesn’t already know that. Almost everyone who associates with him knows it too–they just find him useful, charming, or share his sick view of the world.
This brings me to my final point: anybody associated with Wilson should be shunned as much as Wilson himself. They have no excuse for not knowing his fetish for political violence and his willingness to hurt not just people they dislike but anybody in his way. They have proven to be total scumbags themselves.
Unfortunately, the list of people who tolerate or admire Wilson is long, which just goes to show how degraded our Establishment is.
