Federal authorities have charged a 40-year-old man with two separate arson attacks in New Mexico—one targeting the Republican Party of New Mexico’s headquarters and the other damaging a Tesla dealership.

According to a press release from the Department of Justice, the suspect has been identified as Jamison Wagner.

Wagner faces charges stemming from a February 9 arson attack at the Tesla Albuquerque Showroom and a March 30 arson attack on the New Mexico Republican Party’s headquarters.

Both incidents occurred during the night on weekends, and investigators say the suspect used similar methods in both cases.

According to the criminal complaint, surveillance and forensic evidence led authorities to Wagner.

Investigators stated that one Tesla vehicle was “significantly damaged during the fire, while the second exhibited lesser damage.”

Two Tesla Model Y vehicles were found burned in the dealership’s parking lot, and investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) determined that the fire had been deliberately set.

Graffiti found at the Tesla scene included slogans such as “Die Elon,” “Tesla Nazi Inc,” and “Die Tesla Nazi,” which were spray-painted onto vehicles and building walls.

Red spray paint was used in both attacks, and the suspect reportedly transported gasoline in jars commonly used for food.

Following the March 30 arson at the New Mexico GOP office, the party posted on X that “the entryway” of their headquarters “was destroyed in a deliberate act of arson.”

Graffiti reading “ICE=KKK” was found at the scene, consistent with the stencil later discovered at Wagner’s residence.

Deliberate Arson Targets GOP Headquarters in Albuquerque

Federal investigators executed a search warrant at Wagner’s home and recovered several pieces of evidence reportedly linking him to both arsons. According to the criminal complaint, items found at the residence included:

  • A box containing eight suspected incendiary devices
  • Cans of black and red spray paint
  • A box of blue Styrofoam egg cartons, matching the material found at the Tesla fire
  • Materials for making additional incendiary devices
  • Ignitable liquids consistent with the gasoline used at both crime scenes
  • A cardboard stencil with “ICE=KKK” sprayed in red

The complaint further notes that the stencil was consistent with graffiti at the GOP headquarters.

Wagner’s Facebook profile displays political content, including posts supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and Antifa.

His profile also includes a post stating, “Republican Party is the party of white supremacist fascism.”

He has engaged with pages promoting radical content, such as “Nonbinary Memes & More.”

According to media reports, Wagner is affiliated with “500 Queer Scientists,” an advocacy group highlighting LGBTQ+ individuals in science and technology fields.

His biography on the site identifies him as queer and an electrical engineer. Wagner has also been described as “lipstick-wearing” in recent media coverage.

The Department of Justice confirmed Wagner’s arrest and is pursuing federal charges related to both incidents.

Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement following the announcement.

“Let this be the final lesson to those taking part in this ongoing wave of political violence,” Bondi said.

“We will arrest you, we will prosecute you, and we will not negotiate. Crimes have consequences.”

The ATF continues to examine materials recovered from the scenes, including debris, fingerprints, and possible DNA.

While results from forensic testing have not yet been publicly released, the evidence outlined in the complaint led to Wagner’s arrest and charging by federal prosecutors.

No injuries were reported in either attack, but damage to property was significant in both cases. Wagner is currently in custody, and a court date has not yet been announced.
