A Louisiana woman was arrested earlier this month after authorities say she assaulted a sheriff’s deputy while intoxicated during a trespassing call that began with her swimming nude on a neighbor’s property, as reported by The New York Post.
According to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched in November to a residence in the Linville community of Marion after a caller reported a neighbor standing in their driveway, screaming and refusing to leave despite having been warned previously.
When a patrol deputy arrived at the scene, authorities said the suspect was found nude and swimming in a pond located on the caller’s property. The woman was later identified as Erin Elizabeth Sutton, 41, of Marion.

The sheriff’s office said Sutton initially refused to exit the pond or communicate with the deputy. According to a Facebook post from the agency, Sutton told the deputy she was “trying to be a mermaid.”
After repeated commands, Sutton eventually exited the pond, authorities said. Because of the cold temperatures, emergency medical services were called to evaluate her condition.

Deputies provided Sutton with a blanket, and as the responding deputy attempted to escort her inside a residence to warm up, she allegedly charged at him.
Authorities said Sutton ignored multiple commands to comply and actively resisted detention. A taser was deployed but had no effect, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies then took Sutton to the ground, where she allegedly continued resisting by kicking and punching the deputy before she was finally restrained.
Sutton was transported to a hospital for further treatment. During the transport, authorities said she allegedly threatened to kill deputies and paramedics.
Because Sutton required medical attention at the time of the incident, deputies did not immediately take her into custody. Instead, investigators later sought arrest warrants.
The warrants were signed by a judge in Louisiana’s Third Judicial District Court, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sutton surrendered to deputies on Jan. 6, 2025, and was formally arrested on multiple charges.
Authorities said the charges include three counts of resisting an officer with force or violence, two counts of public intimidation, two counts of battery of a police officer, disturbing the peace by drunkenness, and criminal trespassing.
Her bond was set at $62,000, officials said.
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the case. Fox News Digital reported it contacted the agency for further comment but did not immediately receive a response.
It was also not immediately clear whether Sutton has retained legal counsel.
The incident remains under review as part of the ongoing case, according to authorities.
