A 32-year-old man died after falling from a rooftop pickleball court during a match in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in what authorities described as a sudden death, according to police and statements from the facility where the incident occurred, as reported by the New York Post.
The incident took place on December 2 at Playa Racquet Club, a recreational venue located at the TREC facility in Kuala Lumpur.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was playing pickleball on a third-floor court when he attempted to retrieve a ball during play.

According to police and witness accounts referenced by local authorities, the man climbed over the court’s safety railing while trying to recover the ball.
He reportedly stepped onto mesh netting that covered a gap near the edge of the court. The netting tore under his weight, causing him to fall from the three-story structure to the lower floor.

Video footage circulating online shows the moment the man went over the railing, followed by reactions from other players and onlookers.
Several individuals were seen rushing from the court area to the ground floor after the fall. The man was later found dead at the scene.
Playa Racquet Club is described by the venue as offering rooftop pickleball courts with views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
The facility includes three outdoor courts, one indoor court, a bar, a café, and a relaxation space for members and guests.
In a statement released following the incident, the club confirmed the fatality and asked the public to allow authorities to conduct their investigation without speculation.
“We are deeply saddened by a tragic incident that occurred at our TREC facility, which resulted in the loss of a life,” the statement said.
“At this time, we ask for understanding and compassion as we respect the privacy and loved ones affected. We kindly urge the public to refrain from speculation while the appropriate authorities carry out their investigation.”
Wangsa Maju district police chief Mohamad Lazim Ismail said the case has been classified as a sudden death. In a statement, he confirmed police received a report about the incident at approximately 9:43 p.m.
“The deceased was playing pickleball on the third floor and had climbed over the court’s fence to retrieve a ball and fell to the lower floor,” Mohamad Lazim Ismail said.
