Man Steals Ohio Patrol Cruiser, Leads Officers on Wild 16-Minute Chase [WATCH]

In a bizarre sequence of events, a man in Ross County, Ohio, decided to take an unauthorized joyride in a marked Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) cruiser, leading law enforcement on a 16-minute pursuit in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as reported by Police 1.

According to OSHP, the situation began just before 2:15 a.m. when a Dodge Charger patrol car was stolen from outside the Chillicothe Patrol Post. The car had been left running, making it an easy target for the opportunistic thief.

Using GPS technology, troopers quickly tracked the stolen vehicle heading south on State Route 772.

When officers attempted to pull the car over, the suspect ignored their commands and kept driving, prompting a high-speed chase.

The suspect initially drove south on Route 772 before abruptly turning around at a gas station and heading back north toward Chillicothe.

It was at this point that officers from the Chillicothe Police Department stepped in, deploying stop sticks to bring the vehicle to a halt.

Dashcam footage captured the dramatic conclusion of the chase.

With the stolen cruiser immobilized, OSHP troopers ordered the suspect to exit the vehicle at gunpoint.

The man complied by crawling out of the driver’s side window, where he surrendered without further incident.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the pursuit, and the stolen cruiser sustained no damage, according to OSHP.

The suspect is now in custody at the Ross County Jail, facing a slew of charges, including three counts of theft without consent, failure to comply with a police officer’s order, and possession of drug abuse instruments.
