Former California Congressman Devin Nunes, who led the House Intelligence Committee’s 2017 investigation into the Russia collusion narrative, is now raising questions about possible connections between that narrative and the August 2022 FBI raid on President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
In a recent appearance on Real America’s Voice, Nunes discussed ongoing concerns about the Department of Justice and intelligence officials involved in both the Russia collusion probe and the unprecedented FBI raid on the Florida property.
In August 2022, over three dozen armed FBI agents executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago and seized boxes of documents from the residence.

Months later, in November, President Biden’s Department of Justice appointed Jack Smith as special counsel to lead the investigation into the materials recovered at Trump’s home.
Subsequent court filings revealed that the FBI had been authorized to use deadly force during the operation.
That authorization was approved by then-Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Nunes addressed this in the interview, stating, “The raid on Mar-a-Lago. So this continues. Same people doing the same nonsense continue this hoax and raid Mar-a-Lago, which I believe we need to see, what were they actually looking for when they went to Mar-a-Lago?”

“I think that’s an important key, and that the statute of limitations has not run out on,” Nunes added.
During the same interview, journalist John Solomon responded, “And maybe, just maybe, it was Russia collusion evidence.”
“My guess is that it was,” Nunes replied.
“That’s my guess, too,” said Solomon.
“But that’s a guess,” Nunes continued.
“I don’t know. But all related, all the same people. They raid Mar-a-Lago, unprecedented on the home of a former President at the time. They raid Mar-a-Lago, same people, same hoaxes, same everything, but with the power of the Justice Department, with a fake special counsel, this guy Jack Smith.”
“So there’s all of that that needs to at, and hopefully, the justice will prevail,” Nunes concluded.

In February 2022, The Gateway Pundit reported that the FBI may have been targeting Crossfire Hurricane documents during the Mar-a-Lago raid.
The Crossfire Hurricane investigation, launched by the FBI in 2016, focused on alleged connections between the Trump campaign and Russia—an investigation that has since been widely discredited.
Nunes also highlighted new details regarding a classified document that came to light in mid-July 2025.
According to Nunes, the document indicates that senior intelligence officials including John Brennan and James Comey were aware early on that the Russia collusion allegations had been politically motivated and linked to the Clinton campaign.
Nunes stated that the document had not been made available to congressional investigators until late 2020, despite its relevance to the original Russia probe.
During a FOX News interview with former Congressman Trey Gowdy, who participated in the 2017 investigation, Nunes elaborated on the significance of the document and referenced a still-unpublished report he authored in response to the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russia.

The disclosure adds to growing calls from conservative lawmakers and investigators for more transparency surrounding the origins of the Russia collusion probe, the FBI’s actions during President Trump’s first term, and the use of federal law enforcement to pursue political investigations.
As legal proceedings surrounding the Mar-a-Lago documents continue under Special Counsel Jack Smith, questions about the purpose and motivation of the raid remain central to the debate over accountability in the intelligence and justice systems.
