Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been actively engaging with key nations in the Caribbean, visiting Jamaica on Wednesday and Guyana on Thursday.

While addressing various issues, including the importance of U.S. partnerships with these countries, Rubio’s remarks during a press conference in Guyana caught significant attention when he directly tackled the issue of visa revocations for individuals involved in disruptive behavior within U.S. universities.

A reporter raised a question regarding a specific case of a student who had their visa revoked, prompting Rubio to provide a direct response.

He didn’t shy away from the topic, speaking strongly about the Trump administration’s stance on individuals entering the U.S. under false pretenses.

Rubio emphasized that any student who applied for a visa under the pretense of seeking education but later used their visa to incite violence or disrupt academic institutions would have their visa revoked.

“Let me be abundantly clear. If you go apply for a visa right now, anywhere in the world — let me just send this message out — if you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student, and you tell us that the reason why you’re coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds, but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in doing things like vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings, creating a ruckus — we’re not going to give you a visa,” Rubio said.

He continued, stating that if individuals who enter the U.S. under a student visa engage in these types of activities, their visa will be revoked, and they will be required to leave the country.

“We have a right, like every country in the world, to remove you from our country,” Rubio added.

“I think it’s crazy for any country to allow people to come in and disrupt…we gave you a visa to come in and study and get a degree, not to become a social activist that tears up our university campuses.”

Rubio further outlined that the policy is not just a defensive measure for U.S. interests but an approach that he believes should be adopted by other countries as well.

“I encourage every country to do that, by the way, because I think it’s crazy to invite students into your country that are coming onto your campus and destabilizing it.”

When asked by a reporter about a claim that 300 visas had been revoked, Rubio responded confidently, “Maybe more. Might be more than 300 at this point. We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa.”

Rubio’s response came after a significant crackdown on individuals causing disruptions on U.S. campuses.

In addition to the student visa issue, Rubio also touched on the broader threat of criminal activity coming from international gangs.

He pointed out the presence of gang members from Venezuela, particularly those associated with the Tren de Agua gang, a dangerous organization involved in violent crimes.

He highlighted the deportation of a gang member who had been involved in an attack on a New York City police officer.

Rubio discussed how the individual was welcomed back to Venezuela by Diosdado Cabello, a powerful figure in the Venezuelan government and a key player in the country’s narco-terrorism operations.

“This guy lands, and he’s welcomed by this character named Diosdado Cabello,” Rubio said, referencing the 19-year-old gang member, Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel.

“Does anybody have any doubt that these people are pushing these people into the United States to destabilize us in the region?”

Cabello, who holds a significant role in Venezuela’s corrupt government, oversees the country’s police and prison systems.

He is also wanted in the U.S. for his involvement in narco-terrorism. Rubio pointed to these incidents as evidence of the dangerous international forces that are actively trying to destabilize U.S. national security.

Rubio’s strong stance on both student visas and criminal deportations highlights the Trump administration’s aggressive approach to protecting U.S. borders and interests.

His remarks underscore the administration’s commitment to ensuring that individuals who come to the United States with disruptive intentions face consequences, while also addressing the broader threat posed by international criminal organizations.

Rubio’s remarks have once again brought national security and the protection of U.S. institutions to the forefront, offering a clear message that the administration will not tolerate foreign actors who seek to undermine American values and security.
