Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to deploy a new fleet of vehicles prominently marked with the agency’s name and logo — a move that has sparked safety concerns among agents nationwide, as reported by The New York Post.

According to photos obtained by The Post, the new SUVs will be dark blue, featuring “ICE” in large yellow letters along the sides, accompanied by the phrase “Defend the Homeland” in all capital letters.

The vehicles are expected to make their first appearance in Washington, D.C., before being gradually rolled out across the country.

An ICE official confirmed that the fleet will support the agency’s expanding operations. “Obviously, we’re going to need additional vehicles as we build out our workforce, so there’ll be some marked vehicles from here in DC and around the country,” the official said.

However, agents say the move could put them in greater danger. They report that assaults on ICE personnel by illegal aliens and anti-ICE activists have increased by 1,000% in recent years.

One source described the new design as “like having a bullseye,” warning that highly visible vehicles could attract attacks and make it easier for agitators to impede enforcement efforts.

“This will only raise officer-involved incidents in the streets because people will target the vehicles,” another ICE source said, adding that incidents of tire slashing and objects thrown at unmarked vehicles have already occurred.

ICE officers often operate in plain clothes and wear masks to protect their identities during arrest operations — a practice intended to preserve safety and operational effectiveness.

The new vehicles will be used for arrest operations but not for undercover surveillance missions that often precede arrests, an ICE insider clarified.

The rollout coincides with President Donald Trump’s recent move to assume control of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., in an effort to address violent crime in the capital.

“We are here with a large presence in DC following the president’s announcement on Monday … we have additional officers and teams here in DC for the foreseeable future. You will be seeing a larger presence around the city as we make DC safe again,” an ICE insider said.

On Wednesday night, ICE agents established a checkpoint on 14th Street in Northwest D.C., where they were met by a crowd of protesters.

Video captured by Fox News showed demonstrators yelling at officers, questioning their presence and accusing them of targeting “innocent people.” Some protesters were also heard instructing drivers to “turn left” to avoid the checkpoint entirely.

It remains unclear how many of the new marked vehicles ICE plans to deploy nationwide or the total cost of the fleet. The Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to requests for comment.
