Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn announced her candidacy for governor of Tennessee on Wednesday.

Blackburn, who has served in the U.S. Senate since January 2019, promised to bring more job creation, energy production and a better education system by “empowering parents” over the “deep state,” in her announcement video. She further vowed to deport illegal immigrants and “value the Constitution” and “life.”

“I love Tennessee, I believe in Tennesseans,” Blackburn said in the campaign launch video. “And I’m ready to deliver the kind of conservative leadership that will ensure our state is America’s conservative leader for this generation and the next. I’m Marsha Blackburn, I’m running for governor and I would be honored to have your support.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Marsha Blackburn Pushes Back On Dems’ ‘Fearmongering’ About Trump’s ‘Beautiful’ Law)

Blackburn is the third sitting senator to run for governor ahead of the 2026 midterms. Democratic Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet and Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville announced their gubernatorial runs in April and May, respectively.

If Blackburn wins her bid, she will be able to appoint her successor as her current term is not over until 2031.

On her campaign website, Blackburn laid out her plan on a wide range of political issues, including the protection of women’s sports, stopping illegal immigration, confronting China, strengthening parental rights and backing the agenda put in place by President Donald Trump.

Blackburn previously served in the Tennessee state Senate, and then went on to represent her state’s 7th district in the U.S. House of Representatives. She became the first woman from Tennessee to be elected to the U.S. Senate in 2018, according to her campaign website.
