President Donald Trump’s administration has announced the elimination of taxpayer-funded housing program benefits being directed to illegal aliens.
This week, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner, along with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, unveiled the “American Housing Programs for American Citizens” memorandum.

This new policy aims to prevent taxpayer money from being used to provide housing benefits to individuals living in the U.S. illegally.
“American tax dollars should be used for the benefit of American citizens, especially when it comes to an issue as pressing as our nation’s housing crisis,” Turner said in a statement.
He emphasized the administration’s commitment to prioritizing American citizens in government-funded housing programs.

Turner further explained the new policy, saying, “This new agreement will leverage resources, including technology and personnel, to ensure the American people are the only priority when it comes to public housing. We will continue to work closely with DHS to maximize our resources and put American citizens first.”
The agreement establishes a partnership between HUD and DHS to prevent housing program funds from being allocated to illegal aliens.
Turner also directed HUD-funded service providers to halt any financial assistance to individuals in the country illegally.

A 2023 study by the Center for Immigration Studies found that nearly 60% of households led by illegal aliens rely on at least one major form of taxpayer-funded welfare.
This is a stark contrast to the 39% of households headed by native-born Americans who receive similar assistance.
Notably, nearly half of the households headed by illegal aliens in the United States are on food stamps, while 39% are enrolled in Medicaid.
This move marks a significant step in Trump’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal immigration and ensure that government benefits are directed to American citizens.
The administration has long argued that taxpayer resources should be focused on the needs of U.S. citizens, especially in critical areas like housing, where demand continues to outpace supply in many areas of the country.
The new policy reflects these priorities and seeks to ensure that public housing assistance is not extended to individuals who are not legally present in the U.S.
By eliminating the use of taxpayer dollars for housing illegal aliens, the Trump administration is taking a firm stance on immigration and welfare reform, aiming to address both the housing crisis and the strain that illegal immigration places on public resources.
