A large-scale rescue mission on Mount Everest has brought 880 stranded climbers, guides, and staff members to safety after a severe blizzard trapped them on the China side of the mountain, according to state media reports cited by the New York Post.
The operation followed a powerful snowstorm that struck the eastern slopes of the world’s highest peak late Friday night, leaving hundreds unable to descend.
The people on that climb weren’t there for the rapture, but for a regular expedition over the recent Chinese Golden Week holiday. Honestly the only people I worry about are the local Sherpas and civilians who left their homes to go rescue those tourists.https://t.co/h9fKQ0buiC

As TMZ reported, Everest, long considered one of the most perilous mountains in the world, lived up to its reputation as weather conditions deteriorated rapidly and visibility dropped to near zero.
Officials confirmed that approximately 350 people were able to make their way down over the weekend before the remaining climbers became stranded. By Tuesday, coordinated rescue efforts successfully reached the others, bringing all 880 individuals to safety.
Rescue crews deployed an array of resources to locate and extract the climbers, including horses, drones, and ground teams equipped with emergency supplies. The operation also provided heating equipment, oxygen, food, and medical aid for those affected by cold exposure or altitude sickness.

Authorities credited the swift and well-coordinated response of local and national rescue teams for preventing any fatalities during the multi-day ordeal. Officials said all individuals rescued from the mountain were undergoing medical evaluation, but early reports indicated no serious injuries.
Mount Everest, standing at 29,032 feet, is notorious for extreme weather conditions that can shift within minutes. The mountain’s high-altitude winds and freezing temperatures have historically made rescues difficult and dangerous for both climbers and responders.
The recent storm underscored the ongoing challenges faced by expeditions operating on both the Nepalese and Chinese sides of the mountain.
In recent years, an increasing number of climbers have attempted ascents from the Tibet side, where infrastructure and government-managed rescue coordination have expanded to accommodate growing tourism and mountaineering activity.
I don’t understand the excitement of hikers paying thousands of dollars to climb Mount Everest which has lots of frozen corpses and also a death trap.

The Chinese government praised the rescue teams for completing one of the largest successful high-altitude operations in recent history, emphasizing that improved technology and emergency planning were key to the mission’s success.
Authorities have since issued new safety warnings to climbers planning late-season expeditions, urging close coordination with local guides and meteorological agencies before setting out.
The 880 rescued individuals have now been accounted for, marking a rare mass survival story on a mountain known for claiming hundreds of lives over the decades.
