McDonald’s has taken a bold step away from woke corporate policies, announcing significant changes to its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
In a statement released Monday, the fast-food giant revealed that it recently conducted a Civil Rights Audit to reevaluate its approach to inclusion and compliance.
The move comes in response to the Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, which has triggered legal reassessments across corporate America, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

According to the statement, McDonald’s conducted a comprehensive review of its policies, consulted with shareholders, and benchmarked against other companies navigating similar challenges.
“Last year, we completed a comprehensive Civil Rights Audit (CRA) that looked at all aspects of inclusion across our system,” the company noted.
The audit revealed the need for a shift in strategy. McDonald’s announced the following key changes:
- Retiring Aspirational Representation Goals: The company will eliminate diversity hiring targets, instead focusing on embedding inclusion into daily operations.
- Pausing External Surveys: McDonald’s will stop relying on external DEI surveys to prioritize internal initiatives that drive business growth.
- Overhauling Supply Chain Policies: The DEI pledge in supply chain contracts will be replaced with integrated discussions linking inclusion to business performance.
- Renaming the Diversity Team: The team formerly known as the DEI department will now be called the Global Inclusion Team, aligning with the company’s revised inclusion value.
This pivot has been celebrated by conservatives, who argue that prioritizing race, gender, or other immutable traits over merit undermines workplace efficiency and fairness. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck, who has been vocal in urging corporations to ditch DEI initiatives, praised McDonald’s for its decision.

The burger giant isn’t alone in rethinking its woke agenda. Other major corporations have similarly scaled back or dissolved DEI programs.
Walmart no longer considers race and gender in supplier contracts, Boeing disbanded its global DEI department, and Google slashed DEI staffing amid budget cuts.
Auto giants like Toyota and Ford, along with manufacturers Harley-Davidson and John Deere, have also curtailed or redefined their diversity initiatives in response to political and legal pressures.
McDonald’s decision reflects a broader trend of companies prioritizing business performance over virtue signaling. It’s a recognition that, in today’s climate, focusing on merit and results is not just good business—it’s good sense.
