A small medevac jet carrying six people, including a pediatric patient and her mother, crashed into a Philadelphia neighborhood on Friday night, resulting in a fiery explosion.
The aircraft, a Learjet 55, was transporting the young girl home to Mexico after receiving medical treatment at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia.
The jet took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and was en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it went down around 6:30 p.m.

The crash occurred three miles from the airport, near Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.
Domingo Colon and his wife were leaving their home in the Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood when they heard the jet descending.
Colon’s Ring camera captured the aircraft screaming down several blocks away before it disappeared behind nearby townhouses.
Moments later, the plane exploded into a massive fireball, illuminating the night sky.

“The impact and subsequent explosion were too extreme for the microphone of the Ring camera to pick up,” Colon said.
He and his wife quickly returned inside, avoiding the dangerous blast.
Philadelphia motorist Chris Andro was driving along Roosevelt Boulevard toward Cottman Avenue when he saw the sky light up from the crash.
His dashcam captured the scene, and he reacted in shock.
“Holy sh*t, oh my God, is this on video?” Andro was heard saying as the footage showed flames and smoke rising between trees and houses in the neighborhood.

The jet carried six people, including the young girl, her mother, a doctor, a paramedic, and two pilots.
All six passengers were Mexican nationals, Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
At least six people on the ground were injured and transported to the hospital.
Three of them have since been released, while three others remain at Temple University Hospital’s Jeanes Campus for treatment, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, though initial reports have not indicated any distress calls before the plane went down.
The crash came just two days after a deadly midair collision involving an American Airlines regional jet and a military Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport.
American Airlines Flight 5342, carrying 64 passengers, collided with the helicopter while approaching Runway 33 on Wednesday.
All passengers on the plane and the three soldiers aboard the helicopter are presumed dead.
The two incidents, occurring within days of each other, have raised concerns about aviation safety and prompted federal investigators to examine both crashes closely.
