The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) cancelled comedian Andrew Schulz’s scheduled stand-up show just hours after he released a podcast interview with former President Donald Trump, Schulz announced on his podcast Wednesday.
Schulz had apparently booked BAM to perform and record his upcoming comedy special over a month prior to the cancellation, he revealed on his podcast “Flagrant.”
But, less than a week before tickets were set to go on sale, the venue cancelled without a specific reason, the comedian said.
“After some internal discussion with leadership, it was decided that BAM is not the right fit for this show at this time,” the screenshot of an email Schulz shared on his podcast read.
Schulz said the email came roughly three hours after he released a roughly 90 minute interview with Trump on his podcast. The interview has garnered over 4.5 million views on YouTube since its Oct. 9 release.
“Now I don’t know if it was the Trump interview,” Schulz said, “but the day before it came out, we were ready to go and we were going on sale this week.”
A producer of the podcast chimed in to speculate that the content of Schulz’s comedy could not have been the reason for the cancellation, as he vetted upcoming show’s material with venue leadership and they appeared to love it. “This felt personal,” the producer added.
“Again, I can’t say for sure that this is what it is, but before it came out it was fine,” Schulz said.
Schulz was set to record his special in November and explained that most venues require booking months in advance.
“Fuck them and fuck them forever,” he also said.
Schulz also revealed that he invited Vice President Kamala Harris to appear on the show but noted her team was “not really enthusiastic.”
The Brooklyn Academy of Music did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller.
