First lady Melania Trump welcomed military mothers to the White House on Thursday in a celebration marking Mother’s Day and honoring the contributions of women connected to the U.S. Armed Forces, as reported by Fox News.

The event, held in the East Room, brought together women currently serving in uniform, the mothers of service members, and spouses of active-duty personnel.

First Lady Melania Trump is welcomed during a 2020 rally at the Amway Center in Orlando.

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and second lady Usha Vance also attended the celebration.

President Trump opened the ceremony by thanking those in attendance for their service and sacrifice.

“You all do an outstanding job, and you should take tremendous pride in what you’re doing and what you do,” he said.

He also gave special recognition to members of the White House staff serving in military-related roles, including Air Force One pilots, White House Medical Unit nurses, and military band musicians.

First lady Melania Trump, who previously hosted similar Mother’s Day events in 2017, 2018, and 2019, delivered remarks highlighting the emotional depth and strength of motherhood.

“Motherhood. The life-changing event that makes women invincible and exposed at the same time,” she said. “It’s remarkable, really, that my son’s life creates unimaginable, unpredictable concerns and thrills for me, even until this day.”

She added, “All caring mothers understand these rare feelings. Nothing against fathers, of course, but in my opinion, and I’m sure everyone in this room agrees, only a mother can grasp this particular point.”

Encouraging the women in attendance to focus on their own well-being, the first lady said their strength is “the bedrock of a brighter future for our children.” She urged them to “embrace the journey” and use their influence to shape future generations.

“We empower the next generation to thrive together. Let’s build a legacy of resilience and hope. Your journey matters. Embrace it!”

Prominent attendees included White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa, a retired military officer, and Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York, the mother of a Marine Corps major.

President Trump concluded the ceremony by highlighting recent increases in military enlistments. “Since November, enlistment numbers for every branch of the armed forces have surged to the highest levels in 48 years,” he said.

He also noted recent executive actions benefiting military families. In January, he signed Executive Order 14184 directing the Secretary of Defense to reinstate service members discharged under the military’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

He followed that with Executive Order 14191, titled “Expanding Educational Freedom and Opportunity for Families,” which includes provisions for military families to use agency funds to send their children to schools of their choice.
