The nature and extent of Matos’ injury have not been disclosed by the team.
Matos, 24, is part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent earlier this year. He has not yet appeared in an NFL game.

Practice was concluded while medical personnel remained on the field, though the Dolphins stated that the injury was not the reason for the early end to the session.
Matos, a native of the Dominican Republic, transitioned to football after originally playing collegiate basketball at the University of New Mexico and the University of South Florida.
He began pursuing football in 2022 and later entered the NFL’s development program for international athletes.
The Dolphins organization has not released additional details about the injury or whether Matos is expected to return to training camp this season. Further updates are expected pending additional medical evaluations.
The incident drew attention as Matos, who has a background in competitive sports but limited football experience, was considered a developmental player with potential upside due to his size and athleticism.
His signing through the International Player Pathway Program marked a continuing effort by the NFL to globalize talent across the league.
