Filmmaker Michael Moore issued a series of statements criticizing the United States and praising Iran in a lengthy online post published Tuesday, as tensions between the two countries continued amid a six-week conflict tied to the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by The New York Post.
Moore, known for films including “Fahrenheit 9/11,” used his Substack platform to express his views on the ongoing situation, writing that the United States was responsible for the hostility between the two nations.
“Our leaders and our media are stupid enough to keep asking questions like ‘why do they hate us?’ Hate us?! They don’t hate US! WE HATE THEM!” Moore wrote.
“We’re the bad guys! If you didn’t realize that under previous presidents, at least Donald Trump has ripped off the mask and shown you who we really are!”
The filmmaker also accused the United States of interfering in Iran’s internal affairs for decades and criticized President Donald Trump over comments related to the conflict.

Moore referred to the president as a “terrorist” in response to warnings issued by Trump regarding potential consequences if Iran did not agree to terms involving the Strait of Hormuz.

In his post, Moore described Iran as “the cradle of one of the greatest civilizations this planet has ever seen.”
“Iran is the cradle of one of the greatest civilizations this planet has ever seen,” Moore wrote.
“While our ancestors in Europe were still figuring out how to build a hut, the Persians had already written the world’s first declaration of human rights, built a multicultural empire that treated conquered peoples with dignity, and were doing math and medicine that we wouldn’t catch up to for a thousand years.”
“These are the people who gave us algebra, medicine, and the theme song to Game of Thrones. Despite harsh government crackdowns and censorship today, Iran still produces some of the world’s greatest filmmakers. America has been meddling with and attacking Iran since 1953.”

Moore also criticized the United States’ military history, writing that it is the “only nation sick and violent enough” to use nuclear weapons.
He called on members of the U.S. military to refuse what he described as “illegal” and “immoral” orders, urged Congress to impeach War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked to remove President Trump from office.
“NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE US,” Moore wrote. “WE MUST DO IT OURSELVES.”
The comments came shortly before President Trump announced a temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran.
The president said the United States would suspend military action for a period of two weeks, contingent on Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global trade route through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply passes.
“I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” Trump wrote. He added that the agreement required the “COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz.”
Trump also stated that the United States had received a proposal from Iran outlining potential terms for negotiation.
“We received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate,” he wrote.
The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue following weeks of conflict in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a focal point for both military and economic concerns.
