Mike Waltz To Reportedly Depart Trump Administration

Mike Waltz, Trump’s national security adviser, and Alex Wong, his deputy, are leaving their positions in the administration in the coming days, according to multiple reports.

Waltz originally came under fire after The Atlantic published a story revealing that its editor-in-chief and longtime Trump rival had been accidentally added into a text group chat dedicated to discussing pending strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen. Trump expressed support for Waltz after, but then shortly after that the National Security Council was hit with more bad news as several officials were ousted from the team.  (RELATED: Trump Admin Intel Officials Say No Classified Information Was Leaked In Signal Messages)

Since Waltz was accused of adding the Atlantic’s editor-in-chief to the Signal chat, the national security adviser has been on shaky ground with the president, sources told CNN.

Waltz’s standing with the president and top aides never recovered in the following weeks and the national security adviser has been trying to fight for his job the past few days, sources told CNN.

Replacements for Waltz have recently been discussed, sources told Politico, and the effort to remove Waltz from the White House picked up this week.
