MN AG Keith Ellison Ran Interference for Fraudsters Who Stole $250 Million From Minnesota Kids

A long time ago, in a political galaxy far, far away, I was a Policy Fellow at Minnesota’s conservative think tank  American Experiment, so I have some special pride and affection for the work that Bill Glahn, a current policy fellow, has been doing uncovering the largest COVID-era scandal in the country. 

He just dropped a huge bombshell that implicates Keith Ellison, Minnesota’s Attorney General, as an ally of the fraudsters. 

The scandal, about which I have written a bit, can be condensed into a few sentences: DFL politicos hooked up with Somali immigrants tied to Ilhan Omar to rip off the state and federal government by charging hundreds of millions for meals they never provided to children during COVID. 

Hundreds of millions, and that is only one of the scams that Somalis have run with the cooperation of the Democrat-controlled government. There has been a similar fraud related to child care subsidies and home care services that never happened. All told, somewhere between $500 million and a billion dollars has been conned out of Minnesota taxpayers, and the local Democratic Party is deeply connected to it all. 

In the case of this particular scandal, the lead conspirator was a former top official in Amy Klobuchar’s office, not that you would ever know it from the news coverage. Aimee Bock was the ringleader, but most of the minions were Somali refugees with deep political ties to Ilhan Omar, Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey, and our very own Attorney General and former Democratic Party Vice Chair Keith Ellison.

I have known Keith for years, if not well, because he was my very own state representative. He climbed the political ladder quickly–beginning as a Nation of Islam ally, becoming a Congressman and Democratic Party bigwig, and now the chief law enforcement officer of one of the most corrupt states in the nation. 

Not that Minnesotans would ever believe that. They can watch billions fly out the door and applaud because, well, Democrats…

The trials for the Feeding Our Future malefactors are still working their way through the federal courts–federal because state officials detected the fraud and kept paying, and subsequently ignored the whole nasty crime part of it until the US Attorney stepped in. One reason that was necessary was that Ellison was on the side of the fraudsters, and Bill Glahn just unveiled a recording of a meeting held just weeks before the FBI raided the Feeding Our Future folks in which Ellison promised to help get bureaucrats off the backs of the fraudsters. 

I strongly suggest you read Bill’s story at Alpha News, but I will give you the bottom line. 

Ellison met with a number of the top scammers who were complaining that some of the bureaucrats who were charged with monitoring the use of state and federal funds were, well, monitoring the use of state and federal funds and asking uncomfortable questions. 

The meeting opened up with a generous promise to shovel money into Ellison’s campaign and a corresponding promise from Ellison to help these people who are scamming the government get relief from bureaucratic oversight. Ellison also notes that Governor Walz agrees that the bureaucrats should back off. 

Most notably–there is a lot that is notable–is that Ellison makes clear that his power rests in the fact that he is the lawyer for the government agencies who are giving the Feeding Our Future crooks scrutiny. They depend on him for legal representation, so he has significant leverage over them–especially if the departments get sued. 

That is, after all, why the scammers went to Ellison, whose office has nothing to do with the pandemic relief funding that was being stolen. The appeal to him is not based on his role in the bureaucracy, but on the political leverage he can bring to bear on bureaucrats who depend on his help. 

Nice department you have there. Wouldn’t it be a shame if the chief law enforcement and your own lawyer were angry at you?

There is no evidence that Ellison personally benefited from the scam, but his campaign sure did. As did his son, who is now a Minneapolis City Council Member. 

As the meeting is wrapping up, discussion turns to the date of the next get-together. At 54:37, Ellison can be heard mentioning the day’s date (December 11) and an upcoming trip to Colombia. Then the recording abruptly ends.

On December 20, Ellison accepted four campaign contributions totaling $10,000 (4 X the max $2,500). Donor #1 was Gandi Mohamed, Defendant No. 69 and Ikram’s brother. Gandi has pled not guilty.

Donor #2 was a man (not mentioned above) whose voice can be heard on the Dec. 11 recording, but who has not been charged with any wrongdoing. A third donation was given by a man, also not charged in the case, whose name was mentioned in open court during the most recent Feeding Our Future trial.

That same day (December 20), Ellison’s son, Minneapolis city council member Jeremiah Ellison, accepted campaign contributions from Gandi and K. Ellison’s Donor #2.

In addition, Jeremiah Ellison accepted donations from Salid Said, Ikram, Ikram’s husband, and Gandi’s wife. Also giving were four others later indicted in the case.

Exactly one month after that, on January 20, 2022, the now-famous FBI raids were conducted, shutting down the operations of both Feeding Our Future and Partners in Nutrition.

There has been sporadic coverage of the scandal here in Minnesota, but the local media has been wary of pointing out how the Democratic Party is deeply intertwined with the scandal.
