Authorities have identified the woman found dead aboard a docked boat in Montauk early Tuesday as Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, a 33-year-old fashion designer and entrepreneur from New York City. Known professionally and socially as Martha Nolan, she was found unresponsive shortly after midnight at the Montauk Yacht Club, as reported by The New York Post.
First responders pronounced Nolan dead at the scene, Suffolk County police confirmed. The cause of death has not yet been determined and is pending autopsy results from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to multiple Montauk Yacht Club members, late-night screams were heard coming from the dock area shortly before Nolan’s body was discovered.
One club member described hearing yelling near the boats late Monday night. Another club member, speaking anonymously, described Nolan as a familiar and positive presence in the community.

“She was well known in the community. She was very friendly. Always smiling,” the member told The Post. “There’s going to be a lot of conversation out of this.”
Nolan, originally from Ireland, moved to the United States at age 26. She was the founder of East x East, a fashion brand specializing in resort and summerwear. According to her LinkedIn profile, she also worked as a marketing consultant and entrepreneur.

In 2023, she began hosting fashion pop-ups in the Hamptons, including recent events at Gurney’s Resort in Montauk. Just last month, Nolan celebrated a successful business milestone at Gurney’s, showcasing her swimwear, eyewear, and resort collections. She posted a video on TikTok on July 1 with the caption, “Goals Achieved.”
Montauk residents and acquaintances remembered Nolan for her kindness and energy. “She had a great smile, she was always so nice,” a local said.
Crime scene investigators and Suffolk County Police remained at the yacht club into Tuesday night. A Suffolk County Crime Lab van and command post were seen at the scene past 9 p.m., signaling an active investigation.

The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad has taken over the case, but officials have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected. Police have not released information regarding any persons of interest or whether surveillance footage from the marina is being reviewed.
